  1. Then how about adding a text-based teamchat feature that let's you type /team to chat privately with others who are your character? I think this would work well now that a lot of people are putting gangs together using their own same characters. Or u could even have a feature that lets u add anybody to your team, it doesn't have to be people of your same character.
  2. Well I'm not sure if it's as much the server crashing as PEOPLE on the server crashing. But still, your inference about the bandwidth would still support the observation that crashes occur less frequently on smaller servers than they do on larger servers, since the more people the more bandwidth (or other server resource) the more problems with insufficient resource allocation hence the more chance u have of encountering a stability issue like crashing.
  3. Cray's explanation would seem to support my own observations as well: on the smaller servers (less than 10 people) I'm now experiencing crashes much less frequently, whereas on the larger servers (more than say, 15 people) i'm still crashing as much as i did in 0.1. Which would seem to indicate that you have significantly less of a chance of encountering a cheat-related crash on smaller servers vs what u have on larger servers.
  4. Well i think most of us are for whatever reasons under the impression that mods and cheats and trainers, in general aren't supposed to work in 0.2. But the dev's are right of course, everything is still very much a work in progress.
  5. How about releasing a version to a group of people here with code in it that logs errors to a debug file, and have them send it to u when they crash? I don't know if this would help u guys or not, i'm just a gamer not a dev.
  6. I'm not sure if the developers have done this or considered it, but couldn't they add some code to MTA:VC that would log the errors to a debug file anytime a crash occurred, that way people could send the devs the file so they could compare them to see what's going on? Perhaps they could designate their testers and maybe even some volunteers from here to participate in this debug.
  7. Well the thing i'd like to know is why do some people crash at the same time while the rest on the server dont. I notice this can occur much more frequently (like every 10 minutes) on larger servers; on servers with less than 10 people it's much less frequent.
  8. I also want to point out that it's usually not the server crashing, because some people on the server can crash at the same time while the others dont. Now that's not the server crashing, right? So my main question is, what makes some people crash at the same time while others go on playing just fine? Maybe a developer can answer this one.
  9. lol i'm such a n00b actually i did read the manual but that must of escaped me tx
  10. probably . One day i'll fool around and see if i can fix it.
  11. Is there an option to enable them? Or was this feature just deferred for a later version? I'm only asking because the screenshots we were seeing showed them.
  12. But if trainers and cheats are disabled in .2, then how could they still effect crashes on people? Wouldn't they only be affect the player who's using them? Maybe a developer can answer this one.
  13. Actually, it WAS Norton Internet Security, because when i turned it off and joined the game I could chat!
  14. Actually, i'm not on a large network, i'm at home. However, I am using Sygate Office Network, which is Internet gatweway software that lets me share my internet connection with other computers in my house. Also, I'm using Norton Internet Security (firewall software) and Norton AntiVirus. So yeah i'm suspecting one of these might be the problem. I'll disable one at a time and see if this is the case.
  15. The interesting thing is that multiple people can crash at the same time while everybody else on the server is unaffected. To me this indicates that something or someone is inadvertently (or advertently) causing it.
  16. First off, i want to thank the developers and all who made it possible for releasing 0.2 today. Their continuing progress on MTA:VC certainly deserves a big round of applause from all of us who appreciate what they're trying to do. And now for my problem. I'm ALMOST ALWAYS unable to chat in the game. Yes i press t, and yes i can see the chat box. I can see people chatting, but nobody sees my chatting. However, i can chat just fine in the MTA client. Somebody told me it might be lag. But how could that be if my ping is low and my gameplay doesn't show any lag. It usually happens on all servers i join. Thoughts or suggestions? UPDATE: The cause was Norton Internet Security. I disabled it and now i can chat just fine.
  17. Yeah instead of dots have a percentage meter! And like increase it by %1 every other day.

    PEDS !!!!

Well how about just having a few peds? I mean u certainly don't have to fill the streets, u could just maybe have an occasional ped here and there. It wouldn't put much resource strain on the server and plus it would add a bit more life to the scenery.
  21. If it's an option you can select, fine. If it's a required feature, no good. I prefer having my screen as clear as possible during gameplay.
