CFWU>Spike
I have a athlon 2400+ server with 512mb Ram, on a 100mbp/s connection. With 20 people in the VC server it uses 50% cpu, with 26 people it uses 99.8% cpu. I have installed all the patches, the server is linux CentOS (red hat enterprise) Link to comment

littlewhitey
but why does it use so much cpu?99,8% Servers are meant to be powerful as most server apps, such as the MTA server, are cpu hungry And yeah, an Athlon 2400+ is powerful, its just that game servers are demanding Link to comment
Si|ent
Pre 0.5 servers didnt need anywhere near as much cpu, I suspect it's due to the encryption that we were forced to include in an attempt to combat those few who wished to ruin other peoples games by creating destructive or cheat enabled clients. The same thing increases strain on client machines and is probably responsible for the extra bandwidth required. Link to comment
