I have 2 things to say:

First, the website is down......When will it be up?

Second, can I know in what are you coding your mod? (vb,delphi,c++?)

Our host was down, shud be up again though.

About the code:

We were coding it in VB, but we've almost finished converting it to C++. The client as well as the server will be coded in C++, and the server's multiplatform; it can be run under win32 as well as linux.

=edit=

The server's already working under both Linux & win32, so that feature's implemented in the release for certain.

Looks very very nice!! I can't wait for the release!! hehe and C++ rulz!! Do you expect to release it soon or really not now? I mean....don't want a release date or a release month.....But like......do you think this month or in like 6 months...??

I think with the rate that these guys are moving that they should have it done in a few months. from everything that I been seein the mod looks like it is shaping un to be good. now i just got to figure out how to mave both MTA and YAMM on my puter(got a gang here so just don't want to quit playin MTA. besides, think when .4, heck even .35, is gonna be great.)

A little tip for you. :)

If you do a clean install of GTA3 and run it once (to generate the textures) you can then just make as many copies of your GTA3 folder as you like.

One for MTA, one for YaMM, one for GTA3T, one for any other map/car/mission mods you might like to run. :D

|Y|aNi}{ ... Although we cannot give a firm release date, I would have to say that 1 month is more reasonable than 6 months. But, do not hold us to it.

The YaMM team does NOT want to rush this mod out, but rather wait until _we_ feel it is at a releasable state.

Also, just to let everyone know, the conversion to C++ is done. We now have the C++ Client and C++ Win32/Linux Server working to the state that we had the VB versions.

Excellent news Cray. I am looking forward to seeing the release of your project sometime in the future. Looks like MTA has a fair bit of "competition", even though you're all doing it free of charge.

Good luck with your project, & hope you make a heap of progress real soon (do u think that's possible in the programming world? :D )

Thanks!

We have already made a heap of progress in the past week and lets just hope the trend continues. We are really hitting the hard stuff now, so, time will only tell how successful we are!

Anything is possible and a little bit of competition does not hurt anyone.

First, will your mod be compatible with Vice City PC?

Second, you coded it in C++....Just to be sure, does that mean that it's harder to code but, it runs alot smoother and that the possibilities of things that you can do is bigger?

Third, where will be hosted the servers? I mean like with mta 0.2a it was on irc...

Thx to answer me

The mod will not be VC compatible (not yet)

Yep C++ is much smoother then VB.

And C++ can also be used on linux :)

You can find the server list here

http://yamm.lakwijk.com/?action=serverlist

And there will also be a serverlist in the client.

Matrix rules! :)

Yes, C++ is quite a bit smoother than VB because it is able to do things a lot quicker as it has a more direct path to memory manipulation (among many other things). C++ also allows us to be portable (as AJH said). One of my duties is the Server for YaMM, and I have created a single code base that can compile on both Windows and Linux with the switch of a single #define. This allows us to test it on a wide variety of systems (Linux seems the most stable, obviously).

About the compatibility with Vice City. We need to take this one step at a time. Once we get GTA3 working to a point that the team feels comfortable with, than maybe we will make a VC version. The code could easily be pushed to a Vice City version as long as we can figure out what has changed between the two games (possible a large feat). Time will tell on that one.

AJH mentioned the server list that is obviously not displaying anything yet. We will also look into other methods of getting the running server's to the general public. All of this will be ironed out when we are closer to a release.

C++ is only harder to code for those who do not know it :). If you use the C++ language properly and to your advantage, the end result is a beautiful thing. Hopefully we will be able to show you at some point.
