"1024 MB Ram /1250 MB Burst Ram

35 GB HDD

750 GB Bandwidth

100Mbps Port

1 IPv4 Address

SolusVM/OpenVZ

$5.72/Month, Instant Setup"

So it's about £3.70 a month.

Unmanaged so "noobs" won't be able to use it, you'll need to actually know how to set it up from a CLI.

Download PuTTY (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgta ... nload.html) and install Webmin, then you can download and install MTA, once installed it might be a bit pissy so thanks to Robhol86, we now have this link to help. http://dbiers.me/centos-5-8-latest-and- ... -steamcmd/

Apache needs set up for PHP as it's not done by default, if all else fails, just delete the original install of Apache and download http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html, it's Apache, MySQL, SQLite, PHP, PHPMyAdmin, FTP, and a couple more things.

THEN BOOM! ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU'LL BE EQUIPPED TO RUN MTA AND A FORUM FOR YOUR SERVER! =D Fuckin' amazing, AMIRITE!?

That's because it should be common sense to either do security yourself if you care enough (I don't, I'm even happy to run my computers without anti-virus) or to just use it as a test server and get a better, more secure one when you're ready to release your server.

Only thing anti-virus do is take memory, nothing more. I don't use anti-virus too and I never had problems. I saw lots of people that uses anti-virus and they got lots of virus and BSOD and even got their system fucked up, nothing has never happened to me without any anti-virus.

Ok, this is off-topic, let's stop that.

This is a really strange discussion. The most important thing is that you are just careful and nothing will happen. As soon as you are looking into "to good to be true" stories or wrong sex sites, you are screwed. Some anti virusses might help you, but most virusses can be hidden by crypters.

They don't, I normally know what seems to be real and fake, so nothing happens, and really, I'm not careful. I guess I'm just lucky, maybe not.

Anyway, let's end this off-topic discussion.

Yea, maybe..

But a compromised VPS causes not just harm to you, but also to others.

Edit: oopsie.. 2 late ;(

Btw.. I am using antivirus (a very good one) and it did not prevent me from a very dumb situation...

I dind't update my flash player for quite a while. Few weeks ago there was this 0day, compromising systems through the flash player, I just said to myself "meh, nothing will happen to you, you never browse any weird sites"...

Today I reinstalled my whole comp since I got a trojan, just through this security hole. Apparently there was a compromised ad-server, and this ad (containing the 0day-trojan) was just loaded on my computer.

This could even work on facebook, as long as they are not sorting out what advertising companies they trust.

Good luck getting this sold ;)

None of us here are actually selling this though, I only posted it here 'cause I found it and I personally like :O' around with webservers and :~ and currently have it set up with MTA and such so I thought I would share it in case anyone like me came along wanting something similar...

Oh, Okay...I understand ;)
