Windows 7 Runtime error

Infin

Question

Hey,

I've got a problem, I found out about your mod today on moddb, the idea seems awesome. So i dug up my old copy of San Andreas (100% sure its 1.0 EU since the patcher proggy here on the forum says nothing has to be patched) and immediatly installed it on my new pc with windows 7 32 bit.

To C:blabla/rockstar games/ GTA san andreas.

After that I installed MTA 1.0.4 from moddb.

Tried to launch...

Runtime error.

So i tried running it with admin priviliges and windows xp SP3 compatible mode. The error maintains.

After searching on the forum I found something about C++ Verdist 2008 and installed it (well actually repair), but still no luck...

Also tried DXWebsetup.exe, and it didnt fix anything either.

So I tried to launch SP itself, no problem there, it starts perfectly and no errors/problems what so ever.

Any idea how I can fix this problem?

Try renaming

Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\gta_sa.set

to

Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\gta_sa_backup.set

If that doesn't help, see if your firewall/anti-virus/anti-malware etc. is blocking MTA at all.

Tried deleting gta_sa.set, turning off the firewall and anti-virus completely, and it didnt help.... Im going to do a new clean install of windows 7 on another HDD, lets see if that gives me more luck, I'll report it here if it did/didn't work. :)

EDIT:

Didn't work...

I'll give you guys some more information about my PC maybe this will help.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

Intel E8400 @3.00 Ghz (not overclocked)

DDR2 800 Mhz 3 GB ram

Nvidia ASUS GTX260 192 core.

Intel P45 motherboard.

500 GB Samsung Spinpoint SATA Hdd.

I've got the newest gfx card drivers ect. ect.

EDIT2:

Oh,

And I'm using windows own firewall and AVG 2011 anti-virus.

The GTA San Andreas you're using - is it an original (bought) copy?

Yes, it's an official bought retail copy. (I know it's not some fake bootleg since they are very hard to get in Holland).

But here comes the crazy part, I did some experimenting and found out the following (all done with the exact same PC and hardware);

Windows 7 (Retail)with all kinds of programs ect.; Error

Windows 7 (Retail)Clean Install; Error

Windows XP Professional SP3 (Pirate Download) Clean Install; Working

I'm currently using a dual boot so I can play it through a Windows XP install, but ofcourse, I'd rather just play it with Windows 7 so I can delete my Windows XP Install (have to reboot into XP everytime I want to play MTA :S)

I Would like to know why it doesn't work on Windows 7 for you. Would you mind helping by following these instructions?

1. Download Process Monitor from here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb896645

2. Unzip

3. Download https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/files/ProcmonM ... ration.pmc and put it into the Process Monitor directory

4. Start Procmon.exe, and select the menu item 'File->Import Configuration'

5. Select the 'ProcmonMTAConfiguration.pmc' file and press 'Open'

6. Now start MTA and wait for crash

7. Go back to the Process Monitor window and select the menu item 'File->Save...'

8. Press the 'Ok' button in the next window

9. Rar or Zip the file 'Logfile.PML' (with a password if possible) and get it to me somehow

Thanks

I having exactly the same thing. I run gta (even with the mta or with the original exe) it shows up the original GTA:SA logo, than i can see tha mta menu (with black background) and after a second its just froze.

I read it much times that deleting the .set file would help, but this file doesnt exist in my gtasa folder(in documents of course).

Please download and run MTADiag, follow the instructions, paste its generated log file at PasteBin, then link to that paste here.
