ok so its completely safe but mcafee thinks its not because its the most retarded antivirus out there

Yeah, McAfee only thinks it is because of the way it interacts with gta_sa.exe. It's completely safe.

If we were distributing malicious software, do you really think we would be this popular?

well i guess so but i know that sa-mp has a lot more people only because when in a search when you type gta sa multiplayer it gives you the sa-mp site but i think that by the videos i saw on youtube and the features you say you have it looks a lot better then sa-mp

Remote players cannot give you viruses or any forms of malware/spyware. Server administrators can see your IP, however most of the time server admins are responcible people. Furthermore even if an admin knows your IP, they cannot just randomly send you a virus.

We put particular emphasis on security, and being open-source means we can avoid the event where users are exposed to malicious software. We also have introduced an auto-update mechanism, so we can ensure the safety of users. Even if you join a server in which the server admin wants to burn you on a stick, the most he can really do is make you quit your game.

Infact, our software is actually much safer then SA-MP where exploits in both the server and the client have resulted in virus attacks for players in the past, though even this was a rare occurance.

Towncivilian already posted a virus scan report, here's a link to a 3rd party website that runs scans:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/d0fd ... 1280352692

Those are the results of passing MTASA 1.0.4 through a virus scan.

No, we don't and it's really not our resposibility to do so.

Let me put it this way: MTA is just about as safe as any other commercial game that you play every day and surfing the internet with a common (and possibly outdated) browser is probably way more dangerous than playing MTA.

Don't call them hackers, because they are not.

Calling them a hacker implies they actually achieved something in their lives, as a hacker is somebody who gains unathorized entry to something.

These people are just cheaters, people who have modified their game and most of this cheating can be detected through scripting or MTA anticheat, so a server with this stuff running should be quite cheater free, and admins also help.

the only 'hack' is mod s0beit, which is just used for cheating in race servers and for noobs that cant win...

and a serial ban works perfect against them ;)

people might also steal your maps and might re-upload them, just report em....

so far never had any trouble with mta, sa-mp seemed to be a virus though which made my computer nearly crash :/

A virus paranoid eh?

Well MTA SA is perfectly safe. Anyone won't even get a chance to put a virus/worm/trojan and etc (except when you download it on an untrusted website)

It's official so you don't need to worry about the "hacking culture" (good hack) here, because the developers (Talidan and Towncivilian who told you in the topic) have honestly tell you that it's safe. It's packed with safety and trust.

s0beit is one (bad) hack written to make the players like god. I've ever been using s0beit in GTA SA singleplayer, and no, there's no command about "spread virus" ;)
