Timecyc.dat

I have already done a lot of Research on this topic and found interesting things but i need to mention some things again to get to somewhere now.

Most of the people who have been using timecyc was playing on MTA DD server (shortly you: you need to kill other on the map by pushing them down with your car)

I dont think people would choose the default timecyc instead of using  brighter timecyc which makes our car WAY more nicer. This doesnt give us any advantage in this gamemode.

i can still accept that fact someone of the mta staff wrote: It gives other unfair advantage when you need to kill someone in the dark in other game modes. Its totally right but everyone uses this timecyc so its equal advantage. It would be amazing if someone could get us back the timecyc only for DD or those gamemodes where you dont get any advantage only beauty.

Maybe you could get a permission to server owners to enable timecyc on/off so people can use it who doesnt replace it only for unfair advantages.

I would love to hear of any updates or replies.

 this is an example of the gamemode so it cant give us any advantage

you can see the difference in the 2 car shinings

That's already possible.

Ask them to add this line to mtaserver.conf

<client_file name="data/timecyc.dat" verify="0"/>

in the way described at https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Anti-cheat_guide#.3Cclient_file_name.3D.22data.2Fcarmods.dat.22_verify.3D.220.22.2F.3E

Also give my reply at https://forum.multitheftauto.com/topic/117279-timecyc-does-not-work/ a read for more background information.

Because you're not right by saying:

As there are multiple ways to get an unfair advantage on racing/DD server, it remains up to the server owner to whitelist (allow) timecyc.dat mods. They can do that on their own discretion after considering the risks.

Also, you could monitor the progress in https://github.com/multitheftauto/mtasa-blue/issues/1008, as despite all of this, we're still looking for ways to smoothen it out and make it easier with some sort of extra whitelist.

I would like to ask you before being tell to all ppls to whitelist timecyc.dat. May it cause some other problems besides timecyc.dat. I mean can it cause smth else at data will be whitelisted as well?

No, it will only cause possible unfair advantage, like back to before we made it a protected file.

Nothing of this is rocket science

does it requires 'Use customized gta sa files'. Cuz i added it, and it doesnt work

It will only work if the server explicitly whitelisted the file in config, and your timecyc.dat is actually one of your modded GTA files.

Again, none of this is rocket science : )

I tried to reproduce by:

1) modding my timecyc.dat, so that all players and vehicles become red

2) whitelisting timecyc.dat on local server by adding

<client_file name="data/timecyc.dat" verify="0"/>

3) starting local server and MTA, then enabling this option:

Lw2cVY7.png

4) restarting MTA and then joining my local server

Results:

VG48go7.png

As you can see, my modded timecyc.dat loaded successfully. So it works, and you apparently did something wrong.

Make sure that your line

<client_file name="data/timecyc.dat" verify="0"/>

isn't commented out by <!-- and --> like the example. dat file is by default.

So it should look like:

LR5uzBW.png

instead of like:

zhshbOT.png

That is the most common mistake when it comes to whitelisting any GTA data files.

Dear @Dutchman101;

Am I wrong or I can't see server version 1.5.6-9.18322 for linux package in ''https://linux.multitheftauto.com''

What you say is easy and understandable, but the server version is in conflict with this situation.

Please use https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/?multitheftauto_linux_x64-1.5-latest,

The linux page is out of sync due to some technical difficulties
