Orb!ter Posted January 29, 2006 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Sounds like you are using either Windows XP SP2 with only 10 half-open connections available at one time, or you are using an ADSL modem with NAT Enabled preventing a flood of connections. If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2, you will need to search for a program that allows you to open up more connections. If you are using NAT, then disable it. Link to comment

Orb!ter Posted January 29, 2006 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Go and get your modem's manual or type in 10.1.1.1 or 10.0.0.1 in the address column and see if you can't find how to disable nat. Without knowing the types of modem(s), I can't really give you any assistance. I know DLink ones seem to be 10.1.1.1 Link to comment

Guest Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I got the same problem, i got a Zyxel Prestige 300 router and i found a setting called: "Network Address Translation" where i can choose "None", "SUA Only" and "Full Feature" and currently "SUA Only" is selected, is this the right setting? And if it is what should i change it to? Link to comment
eAi Posted January 31, 2006 Share Posted January 31, 2006 Disabling NAT is probably a bad idea and is unlikely to be causing your problems. NAT allows multiple computers to connect to the internet from one IP address. This means that if you disable NAT on your router and have more than one computer connected to it, all sorts of horrible things could happen. Link to comment
Vandalite Posted January 31, 2006 Share Posted January 31, 2006 actually, if you disable nat on your home router, you lose the ability to connect to anything on the internet at all. the only way to disable NAT and stay online is to directly connect your computer to your cable/dsl modem.
