  1. We might be able to add that though.. Irw, the editor is still being developed, a lot of things still need deciding.
  2. Already possible to some extent, I have to be vague here

    Bots

It could be done fairly well using little bandwidth, but its very problematic, mainly because of the server not knowing about the game's environment and layout. Even with that solved there are a few other little problems though it may be introduced at some point
  4. Anything is possible!! Creating textures on walls is just basic directx code.
  5. We're trying to make use of most, if not all of, GTA's features, so this may very well be in MTA, but not the first release.
  6. How can any project be shut down if they aren't doing anything illegal
  7. If this is added at some point, the modified files would be on the server, which would make sure each client has the same. It is very possible to do it on-the-fly aswell, switching car textures/handling mid-game, but we'll see if/when we come to it
  8. I like your idea paul, very interesting The sad reality is that this will probably never happen for any game or mod being developed, it would just slow everything down, we'd need to update this spectate thing aswell as the clients and servers, not to mention the regular crashes that happen when we're testing completely new things. Every (sane?) developer would agree, its just not worth it As for the time its taking to finish MTA, it's alot closer to a release than most people know, plus there's alot of really cool stuff in it and being developed that people don't know about, which makes progress seem slow.
  9. Actually I would say it's an understatement, any multiplayer mod for a single player game is much more than "pretty good", maybe one day you'll appreciate that. Ever heard of MMOs? Thousands of players in 1 server? It's completely realistic to think of having more than 100 people in a server. They work by streaming players/objects and only sending 'sync' to the clients that need it (players that are close to eachother). dcxbox, It isn't decided yet, there are certain game limits to consider and test, which we will get around to
  10. I could make every single one of those screenshots without even using MTA, they prove nothing, they're just something nice to look at. I realise, from before joining MTA, people can get impatient and even wonder what's taking so long. You have to trust that we know what we're doing, most of the team don't even play during the alpha stage, only to test stuff, so it's not like we aren't trying to complete it as soon as possible. I think we're going to do a semi-public beta kinda thing when it gets to that stage, but we don't do allow the public to play it through alpha because it would take longer to fix things. Imagine a few hundred random people reporting (what they think to be) bugs/glitches, i can guarentee atleast half would be useless. It's for all the same reasons any company doesn't release software until its atleast in a beta stage.
  11. The only difference between each version is the exe
  12. It's actually optional
  13. I wasn't refering to MTA, but I imagine it will still be possible, you can spend your whole life updating an anti-cheat, but it'll never cover everything. All we can do is make it harder for cheaters
  14. No the cars won't be forced to be invincible when they're unoccupied. I think sa-mp use that method to avoid desync, we handle it very differently.
  15. You can "speedhack" with any vehicle and as fast as you like.
  16. There's actually a few suprises that we don't want to ruin, and it really does make almost every question impossible to answer without giving those suprises away
  17. MrJax

    Competition?

Why don't you make one and answer your own question
  18. The idea isn't to make 2 totally separate mods, deathmatch will contain most (if not all, eventually) features from race. There's no sence in developing 2 mods when they can be rolled into 1. ..but the updated core should be compatible with race.
  19. Well both are equally important, if you have a bad upload speed, you're going to seem warpy to others, and if you have a bad download speed, others are going to seem warpy to you. Either can make gameplay worse. There isn't any estimated bandwidth usage/required speeds yet, because features are still being implemented (which may increase or decrease either).
  20. UVA are almost 3 years old now too, maybe we're in the first 10
  21. It took almost a year for San Andreas to come out for PC after consoles, and i'm pretty sure the release date was pushed back a couple of months from when it was first predicted. It's most likely GTA 4 won't be out for PC for a very long time, I'd guess around 18 months. Even when it is out, and IF it has multiplayer and IF the multiplayer is decent, I'm sure by then MTA will have alot more to offer. ..but who knows, maybe we'll end up working on GTA 4 mods/add-ons
  22. You're such a show off Ransom!
  23. Vehicle upgrades/mods have been done already, when we do something we make sure its sync'd properly, for new joining players. Not sure about garages yet.
