  1. Newest news is that this is caused by GTA being run in compatibility mode inside Vista. Try disabling compatibility mode and try again.
  2. Do you have any firewalls that might be blocking it? Also what connection are you on and how many players were there in the servers you joined?
  3. That's a problem with CS too. In CS you can shoot someone just before they hide behind a wall, but by the time the server registers the hit and tells the player being shot at that he's dead, he is already behind that wall. It will appear lagless for the player that shot, but the guy being shot at will think he got shot through the wall. Less ping, less chance for this effect, but this is really a problem with any online game. Read more about it here: http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/general ... rking.html Note that this effect isn't noticable very often. I've hardly noticed it at all, and to be honest I've noticed it more while playing Counter-Strike than MTA.
  4. I've noticed during play that you can inflict a huge amount of damage when standing close and shooting them in the face. I think that's cool though. What do you guys think?
  5. Good job on that movie! It looks very nice, and you're a good pilot. I thought my tunnel flying was great, but you do the same tunnels upside down . I fly in 1st person though. A few critics though: * It's a bit too long. Some of the content could be filtered out. * The warp back effects used some places in the video are annoying, they shouln't be there. * Don't try running clips in slow motion when the captured framerate is that low. You need to capture at atleast 50 fps to show half speed slowmo smoothly. Overall it's great .
  6. I've heard about this too. Going to look into it.
  7. Thanks for nice words, and thank you for the suggestions . I agree with the server browser point. I'll write it down. I always prefer spectator mode 3, and I usually hit 3 each time I start race and go in spec, so yeah this is a good idea.
  8. I didn't read the other replies, but this happens if you're in an invalid place where there is no world around. Maybe a bug with the map file? (bad spawn positions)
  9. For your server to show up in ASE (server browser), you need incomming UDP port 22126 (server port + 123) forwarded in your eventual router to your computer. For people to be able to connect, you also need the server port UDP forwarded. For the anticheat problem, try reinstalling GTA. You possibly have one or more modified files causing the anticheat system to kick you.
  10. Nice ideas . I can't guarantee anything, but we'll think about it.
  11. This won't be implemented in Race 1.1, but it might later sometime now that it was suggested. It was suggested during Beta testing too, though it was put too far down on the priority list.
  12. That's a planned feature as soon as we have the car spawn stuff in, yeah.
  13. The anticheat definition file contains algorithms used to detect people with modified GTA installs and trainers modifying areas that potentially can be used for cheating. As for the kicking log, I'd be careful banning these IP's as we've noticed a connection desync bug that happens fairly often that in the end will make the anticheat kicking the player due to a limited number of packets comming through (it will think you're pausing the process). These cases are not the player's fault, it's a technical fault, and it's unfair if these people are blamed for cheating. This will be addressed later.
  14. Basically you can join servers without anticheat .def files with a modified handling.cfg file and stunt around like crazy. Expect that most public servers that aim for normal gameplay have anticheat enabled to prevent some players gaining unfair advantage over other players. If you want to play with modified handlings, I suggest you find a server with anticheat disabled that allows it (can be v1.03 with AutoUpdateAntiCheat set to 0 with no anticheat.def file), or create your own.
  15. This map is AMAZING! I've never seen such a perfect map in any beta/server ever . Just downloaded it and tried it in the editor, and it totally kicks ass. Lots of places gives the "Lord of the Rings" feel for me , hehe. Seamless world without holes (though the statue in a tunnel knocked me through a wall once ). Keep up the great work!
  16. The FPS per second is locked to 25. To be honest I have no problems stunting under that framerate and it's better than having people abusing their computer problems to drive faster than other.
  17. It'd only require a server patch btw.
  18. Nothing is unmoddable . We might take a look at it later some time.
  19. I've made Ace three times. Once twice in a row . Tips: Fly in 1st person view (V button by default).
  20. The traffic is limited to 5 vehicles at once I think in singleplayer.
  21. There's already a map that came with the server named 'Smugglers Run'. This map has a certain amount of Apache helicopters and people racing. The apache helicopters job's are hunting the racers down before they finish.
  22. I think putting up a poll about this at this stage is useless as even if a considerable amount of people vote Yes, it is still far ahead out in the future. I mean, we got an SDK for SA to release first, then possibly Vice. By the time we start working on Blue for GTA3, everyone has forgotten about this poll and it might not even be relevant as a lot of our community has disappeared and a lot of new people with different opinions have arrived.
  23. Posted in an another forum that this will be implemented in one of the next MTA versions. I agree, it is required. This will probably be specifyable in the .map file.
  24. We're mainly focusing at other gamemodes such as deathmatch at the moment, but we will continue to fix, support and add new features to 'race' in the mean time. These pickups sound like good ideas , I'll give it a thought and see when we can implement some new ones.
