  1. i just wanna say ChrML, you seem like a very friendly and helpful person you give normal answers to ppl's questions, and you're being very open to the community about MTA BLUE and MTA San Andreas, something that i haven't really seen here before(no offense to the others though). now with the blog feature, you guys also give frequent updates; although they sometimes don't really make sense(because some ppl don't really understand them), it's still frequent updates i still think that the revolution talk is bullshit; but thanks to you, mta made a fresh (re)start if i say such things, it has got to be true i mean look at my previous posts, they weren't so "friendly" as this one
  2. lol offcourse that's not true, that's bullshit man -kyeman has different plans/ideas and he and his team probably use another method(otherwise progress of vc-mp couldn't be so fast ?) so they wouldn't want to use the 0.2 core(it's too old anyway). -kyeman has never worked on the old core(as far as i know) so how would he have access to the old core? -the mta team would probably not allow the sa-mp team to use that core -0.2 core isn't able to have the synchronisation vc-mp currently has. PS: 0.2, it's probably 0.3 core! mta blue was formerly known as core 0.4 right?
  3. updated dll's are available since sunday, download them here: http://dracoblue.gamehost.at/gtat/Downl ... a/gtat.rar (put them in your GTATournament San Andreas folder by the way? can't you load your singleplayer saveagames anymore? try this tool: http://dracoblue.gamehost.at/gtat/Downl ... amefix.exe
  4. well, kyeman had a different point of view, i think that's why he started his own mod. so he didn't really got the idea from mta, but his research resulted in that he found another way to create multiplayer(i guess) PS: GTAT was the first online mod for vice city. still talking about competition? there ain't no real competition, as i've said. if a multiplayer mod becomes the most popular mod, he's not going to win a price or something
  5. like i said before, flaming the mta team, because vc-mp seems to be great, is a bit rude and not very smart. oh, that's old news. MTA lost that title, back in early 2003(GGM release, and GTA3T). MTA is/was the most popular multiplayer mod for GTA Vice City/GTA3, but now VC-MP seems to get a lot of attention(being the most popular mod is irrelevant though; each mod will have/already has it's own community). something similar like the flamewars about MTA SA, happened with the announcement of mta blue; ppl started to flame GTAT(the mta team is going to include a racing gamemode, creating a multiplayer mod isn't a race; and there's no actual competition between each multiplayer mod, don't confuse those things ). we all should be thankful that there are a few teams out there, that want to bring multiplayer to a game that was meant for singleplayer(thanks to sony, no multiplayer mode for Xbox/PC version was allowed ). and stop the flamewars between each multiplayer mod. i have nothing against racing, in fact i like it. it just depends on how well it is going to be worked out. though i will definately try MTA SA 0.1(or whatever it is going to be called; perhaps mta underground ), because i like GTA San Andreas, and i wanna test if it is really as smooth as we've been told. although i have my own preferences right now(GTAT, and yeah VC-MP test phase 2 was awesome).
  6. yeah. the first release of MTA SA is supposted to keep the players busy, until more features have been completed. nothing wrong with that; in fact, it's a good idea. but! because of this whole mta blue thing, it's just a small preview of what mta blue is capable of, and now that the SDK isn't going to be included in the first release, the plan will probably not work. as you can see in this topic, even previous die-hard mta fans are disappointed about this racing gamemode. which shows that the players probably won't keep them busy for too long, and they might even be more disappointed instead. and i can't blame them for that and you(the mta team) also say that the community is important to you right?
  7. the only thing that bothers me is that MTA BLUE development started in 2003. there was a sort of teaser of the 0.4 core(later on renamed to mta blue), and a slogan "the revolution will come", since then, no media about the vice city version. that's what's confusing me. i mean you've probably tested some sync methods with the blue core? in the past, it has been said a couple of times that there wasn't any media to show at that time. sounds to me like you guys were focussing on working on just the core itself, but not really on a vice city version build onto the blue core? now San Andreas is available for the PC. and suddenly there's a sync video of MTA SA? since then mta SA get's a high priority, and the vice city version build onto mta blue is being left in the dark(seems like it never really existed?) i don't really have a problem with a racing gamemode, but i do understand why some ppl complain about it. it seems like the mod-support, the ingame interface and the SDK took away a lot of spare time, which made it so that, a vice city release, before the SA PC release was impossible to reach(it was never promised though; so there's nothing to blame about that; though some mta teammembers really wanted to release a vc version build onto mta blue before the actual SA PC release). the racing gamemode is just a small part of what mta blue "seems" to be capable of. that's why some ppl are really disappointed. we've heard stuff like, "the revolution will come", "you'll be amased too", "singleplayer-like animations", "all weapons will be included, even 1st person mode will work". and suddenly a racing gamemode is announced if there wasn't so much propaganda related to mta blue, the disappointment wouldn't be as big as it is now. though if you look at the posts in this topic, the revolution has definately come! just not like you(the mta team) had in mind
  8. oh i see. lol my bad, Netschape is free and i guess comparing GTAT with Netscape wasn't very smart of me. yeah i guess you're right. proper testing is required. that's probably a hint for the ppl who wanted MTA 0.5 to be released so early.
  9. i actually don't see your point, because you guys do it for free. like i said before, both strategies have each pros and cons, none of them is really better. to use your example about GTAT, 0.1a was only tested with a few ppl, but as soon as it was released to the public, it seemed very buggy. though because of the huge amount of bugreports, there was something to fix; and 0.1b was indeed a lot better. but you guys also have used a good strategy in the past. sceduled a few closed group betatests, before a beta version is going to be released to the public. the betatetesters report bugs, so that the team can attempt to fix it for the public beta version. it's just a matter of opinion
  10. really want to see that new video great, a devblog that is a good idea, GTAT also has it. this will probably prevent some ppl from saying, why is there no progress and such
  11. like i said, probably the server that you were connected to, went offline.
  12. lol, you almost got me. unfortunately i never posted frequent news about SA-MP(the mod is popular enough, and some teammembers are here as well); and i've never posted news about SA-2P ah well, nice try though, and the good news is, you're still the top poster you were right ZzZ, (in general) some ppl always whine about the lack of updates. and as soon as there are some, they complain about it's quality (by the way, DracoBlue doesn't see it as a race, so he didn't release 0.1a just to be the first) i do see your point madboy(and the others who agree with him), draco could have tested it with more ppl, before releasing 0.1a. on the other hand, the release of 0.1a resulted in a huge list of bug reports. and a lot has been fixed, in 0.1b. though new bugs have been discovered, and this way of releasing beta's/alpha's will only make the stable release even better ( i think). talidan and njr, this is because, your client was still running, but the server which you were connected to , was shut down. it's a nasty bug, and i certainly hope that it will be fixed in the next devshot(it's one of the most annoying bugs that i'm aware of). by the way, i'm glad that some of you enjoyed playing the devshots(and/or still do enjoy), and Capo, thanks for posting the updates PS: there are some new files available: http://dracoblue.gamehost.at/gtat/Downl ... athook.rar note:
  13. yeah, probably more C++ will join the forum, or will try blue, and develop add-ons developing an RPG add-on would certainly be worth it in my opinion; San Andreas has a lot of RPG elements that can be used for multiplayer don't know if C++ is easy to learn for beginners though same thing for the add-on, but we'll see
  14. you 2 need to understand that GTAT 0.1x are alpha versions; versions that are in an early state of development, so it could be buggy. the team releases those versions, because they want to keep the community close to the development. the devshot versions are mainly used for testing, and for fun(in some cases). Though the open-betatesting has made 0.1b much better than 0.1a. (as far as i know) the mta team betatests their work within the team first, and maybe(i use that word, since i'm not sure, so correct me if i'm wrong) later on, they will scedule the so called "behind closed doors" betatests, like they did with the versions build onto the old core. both strategies have their pro's and cons. if you don't like GTAT's, just ignore the mod then, or (if you do like stable versions) wait for a stable release. otherwise just wait for MTA San Andreas, but stop demanding. both teams work in their spare-time, and they owe you nothing. i'm getting sick of those Multiplayer mod A VS Multiplayer mod B talk, Multiplayer mod A>Multiplayer mod and Multiplayer mod A owns you all! should be stopped in my opinion. like Jigga said somewhere: or even better, don't talk shit at all
  15. as soon as the mod is done and offcourse it will be available at http://www.gtat.org, just check the site once in a while PS: if you take a good look at the video, you'll see a short preview of walking/running animations (almost at the end of the video)
  16. no? i don't need an excuse anyway, since i've never said that SA MP is going to beat MTA SA or something.
  17. you mean, they appreciate the work you guys do and that's it? hmmm ok. it's just that i was talking to kyeman a while ago at irc, and i was asking him what kind of support rockstar gave to the mta team, but he wasn't allowed to tell, but he did say that i shouldn't underestimate the support
  18. they do get support, from rockstar posting news related to other multiplayer mods and eh sometimes giving comments but eh you're right, GTA SA is sort of a rpg game, it has some RPG features( the stats for example). could be perfect for multiplayer, though as others have said, you'll probably have to wait for a C++ coder to code such a gamemode as an add-on.
  19. yeah so, it's still a high number.
  20. so how great, you can look into the future a while ago there were like almost a 100-000 users playing Half Life at the same time, i don't think it'll be easy to reach that. so how can you be so sure that you'll reach that number? by the way, you're doubleposting
  21. i might not be able to look into the future, but this ain't half life(2). and you'll never know if mta blue (mtasa) is going to be as popular as that. if so, then there is a bigger amount of C++ coders, if not, then i guess real add ons are going to be scarce.
  22. exactly jon. even though there is fast progress, they can't go through the beta stage in such a short time. and , like jon says, it may look great, it doesn't have to be great as well(video/screens give half information, not complete). only the team and the dedicated betatesters know, so njr you're gonna have to wait until you may betatest
  23. if that is the case with the ip ban, then it's not a form of abuse, and i take that back. still the posts that got deleted for an unknown reason was a form of abuse(it happened 3 times within a few minutes). but the weird thing is, the ip ban was added right after all 3 posts got deleted. that's why i thought that was abuse as well in the first place. by the way: editing my sig ain't the worst, it's just a part of the abuse case. mad boy you may think it's funny, i don't. i want to provide correct links to other multiplayer mods in my signature, not some stupid old joke. i want to give some small but correct info.' i remember that my sig was changed before, so the link went from http://www.gtat.org to http://www.gtat.com. isn't there a sort of log file? to check who made all those changes.
  24. i'm not accusing ransom, i was saying that he probably lost his rights due to the same thing he did, as the unknown moderator/admin did to me a few times(abuse power), not saying that he is the one who abused his power in this case(editing my sig, banning ip, deleting 3 posts). but you're saying that ransom quit by himself, which means i'm wrong(that's ok, i'll leave it for what it is). it was for nothing, since my account wasn't banned, only my ip was. and usually i'd get a warning with a message if i did something wrong. which i obviously didn't. nobody seems to know who did it, so there is a mysterious moderator/admin on this forum? great. that is called "total control" EDIT: jon offcourse you didn't do it, you're a good moderator and you don't abuse power. you even unbanned me, thanks for that anyway.
  25. well i don't care as long as it is within the rules, but changing sig(banning, deleting 3 posts without giving a reason) isn't. this is a form of abuse, probably the same reason why you lost your moderator rights?
