  1. In the control options there is an on/off switch for mouse flying. There is also one for mouse driving.
  2. I'd definitely be up for that again - Escape and Evade has to be my favourite Just buzz me on msn when it's going down
  3. Yeah, all the races in single player use a 3..2..1..GO! countdown and don't actually allow you to start moving until then. The team are "internally developing a race mode" and I think this will be how they would do it.
  4. I think of it like this: The SCM is normally read by GTA, it then has to be interpreted into what functions inside the game each line corresponds to. This takes a small amount of time. Instead of doing this, Blue accesses the functions directly as if it was a part of the original program. This cuts out the SCM part, which is why the SCM they will use will have nearly nothing in it. Not only is this more flexible than using the SCM, it also increases the speed at which you can do things (the SCM commands don't need to be interpreted). I doubt that it will be noticable, but anything that makes the game even slightly quicker is good news to me
  5. I just thought about trying to mod one of the worst vehicles in SA, and it worked! So here is my Pink Walton with a scoop on the bonnet, large exhaust, up and down suspension, extra bass, cool wheels, and using it's 10x nitro
  6. if i get this rigth. peds is gonna be a feature?? In MTA, the other players you see are technically peds, so when they talk about ped manipulation, they are talking about the fundamental things that need to work to see other players move, shoot etc.
  7. You promise? I've never seen the MTA team go back on something they've said. They are very careful not to promise things and not to say things that aren't true. Probably because people go on about breaking promises. Lay off their backs.
  8. For San Andreas, FMJ are changing our tag to ... FMJ - ah the wonders of an imaginitive mind.
  9. That's funny, because that reminded me of something I did a while ago. That's funny, because that reminded me of something I did a while ago. That's funny, because it's you in my pic
  10. Its all lines of code that spawn cars, health, bribes, armor, guns, blips, and missions on the map. Once you know how opcodes work, you could do anything I said in my last sentance. Its very fun if you learn and try it. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the way the community writes these scripts is probably very different from the way R* writes them. The OpCodes have been translated into a more readable form by Barton Waterduck, but someone else could do a C++ version or a Basic version.

  12. That's really quite a good idea. It reminds me a little of spawn wars - we maybe start at robber and then after 10-15 minutes we all go sailor, then go mexican and so on.

iv asked junx he answer is same as before ..sry (Y) Okay. Any other gangs interested? /me thinks I'll post an ad in gang forums Update: We have now confirmed the 4 gangs needed: KFC VCES UVA FMJ Hopefully this will be a fun war .
  14. Yeah that's exactly the sort of thing that I, at least, was thinking of. Obviously not all the programmers would have something to report each week, because they may have other things they are doing (you know, real life stuff ), but there might be one or two programmers doing a blog in any particular week.

Shall we have another tomorrow? Let's try and make it a 4-way again. 3-ways are good, but it's eminently more fun with 4 gangs. Maybe DNA are available this week? 20:00 BST again It's 5 v 5 v 5 v 5 if we have 4 gangs and 6 v 6 v 6 if we only have 3 A couple of specs (altogether, not per gang ) are okay and we've had so much interest in FMJ that we tend to swap players each round, so that's okay too.
  16. Don't get me wrong - I think it's very good that you've officially released this information, I was just backing up Mike's comment which you contested. How many updates have been made about the "future MTAs built upon the Blue core"? Three 1. The Blue teaser which confirmed its existence and name. 2. A detailed page on the features we could expect from Blue. 3. The announcement of MTA:SA built upon Blue. Some while ago I created a thread which talked about the communication between the MTA team and the community, which I believe helped to stimulate the approach in 0.5.5. This was great and I hope to see the fruits of this collaboration at some point. Now the community has asked for any updates no matter how minor, yet I feel that the message is again not getting through. I don't think that the community wants to necessarily be told about new features, but rather updates about progress, such as "Addon interface: we have finished working on functions relating to vehicles" or in the future "SA Game Interface: we're working on the marker and arrow functions", you get what I mean. Any way, thanks for the update, it was interesting.
  17. Okay, lets go through the information: It was pretty much a given that you would try to do an MTA:SA and that it would be built on Blue. This may be new information, but it's not saying much. What is "basic sychronisation"? What do you call "small" or "fequent"? It's just another way of saying "we will be working on it". Once again, not really new information. The fact that there will be a separate site instead of just a separate section of this forum is not really of consequence. It's great that this information has been clarified and put in one place, but essentially Mike is correct.
  18. The issue here is not the latency or lag, it doesn't matter whether you're on a LAN or the internet, the number of cars that can be placed on the map is limited. Even on one island there might be too much space to have a car within an easy running distance of anywhere.
  19. From what I've read, this would be possible as an add-on. So you could program your own add-on that allows people (or the admin) to spawn cars. You'd have to be careful with the number of cars that get spawned though because you could easily get over the maximum number the vice city engine can deal with.
  20. Isn't some of the audio on the CD itself? Things like the radio and possibly cut scenes. That would mean that unless you copied the audio file to the Vice City directory the No-CD patch would have that effect.

So far we have FMJ and UVA, so we need 2 other gangs. The time has been 8pm BST (British Summer), but we can have it later if a US gang wants to join. Update: VCES are playing so we just need one other gang. --------------- Since we only had 3 gangs we played a three way. We only got to play 2 rounds of that though, but it was fun. In the end it was 1 round to FMJ and 1 to UVA.
