    Say binding?

This brings up a very interesting angle though...
  2. Why are you guys bothering to answer him? "He's not a little nerd that has the time to read everything", so why should he read this? Seriously though, you took the time to come here, create an account, make 9 posts including this lame question and then showed everyone what an utter ret,ard you really are, so dude, you're crossed your personal "lil nerd" boundaries long, long ago. Just thought you should know...
  3. That black streak thing musta been some GFX issue though, eh? Launching to the fokn stratosphere, that's what else is possible! Observe this lil vid. Launch site was outside WBPD's entrance BTW.
  4. The executive staff failed the fire drill... miserably. Anyway, old one's gotten stale. New week, new pic!
  5. I know it does, but it's the only thing related to pictures I can think of... Care to give us your comment on this then? "The file mta_dll.dll includes code from libjpeg of the IPG group". Fact or fiction? Edit: N/m slush took care of it. Edit #2: Not quite sure on this one: is opening the dll with notepad against MTA's EULA?
  6. Actually you can see much of it to make such a guess just by opening the dll with notepad, which wouldn't violate MTA's EULA, plus the guy could claim to have gained knowledge of this by a third party, thus not having taken any action disallowed by your agreement text himself. And eAi, I could be wrong, but I think the "jpeg stuff" you've done with MTA might pertain to F12. Either way, IJs, why didn't you really reply to this? I mean IMO even if this claim's solid, it's still nothing big; Thomas Lane's licence agreement could just be appended after yours as another section or an addendum in the end.
  7. Shoot them with the frame limiter off. Be warned though, they're gonna be mighty fast...
  8. OMG a green color hue bug! I'm collecting these you know. So far, I've got yellow, blue and purple city and soon I'll create the proper thread for those pics. If anyone's got pics from a reddish-orange hue color bug, plz lemme know. Oh and BTW Gf, that thing only happens like 2-3 times per day per person per server, sooo...
  9. Hmmm, guess I forgot about this, with exams and other things in my way these days . Oh well, here we go again. Assuming a simple tweak like that could change the chatting habits of everyone connecting to game servers to play is IMO ridiculous to say the least. Like any other place, there are people with all kinds of chatting behaviour playing this mod, from completely silent (usually those that go "undercover"), or mostly reticent, to normal social talking when there's no action around and all the way to IRC junky MTAers that aren't even ingame but stay on for hours makin small talk (often at their gang's servs). So by giving them a way to get around retyping long messages, you think all hell would break loose and we'd have floods everywhere? Wow. I can't even think how that'd be a serious possibility, let alone the most probable one in your mind. I mean, have you seen that before elsewhere or something? On to text dropping, here's some more practical proof on what I've been trying to get across to you. As you yourself stated in some other thread, yesterday you were on the official 10 for quite some time. So was I. So were others like Db, G-Theft and KFC's Subzero to name just a few. Now mostly the text would show and everything would be cool, but on occation I'd have to retype the same thing 4-5 times to finally see it. I saw G-Theft getting that a few times from his text coming up twice, apparently while he was trying to get it through. Contrary to this though, I remember asking the crowd if my msg's were coming out double on two distinct occations and both times ppl said no; also I never received any negative comment about saying the same thing again and again at any time while others would sometimes say things like "it doesn't show what I type" when nothing would appear in my chatbox either. Edit: BTW (and back to the spamming chaos my suggestion would cause for a sec), at some point soon after Anon left, there was some cheater roaming around and that pissed one guy off enough for him to start flooding us with requests to the admin to kick him. He musta done that around 20-30 times before we finally got him to shut up and all of that witht he magic of Ctrl-V, so I'll rest my case on that. Apropos, you can verify the truth of everything I mentioned by reviewing the chat logs from yesterday, or asking anyone of the ppl I mentioned, if you won't take my word for it. /Edit Maybe it's just me, but I'd say all this is a common thing in MTA servs and it paints a fairly accurate discription of what's really going on: sometimes text gets across, but doesn't come back and other times, it just doesn't reach the server at all. IMO that's consistent with what I know about UDP and that's what I've been saying all along. Alas, you won't hear it, since this "knowing better than the team" complex thing you seem to got going on at times kicked in again. And whenever you use that presumed irrebutable holy-hand-grenade-of-an-argument, everyone's supposed to sit down and stfu, right? Once and for all I'd just like to enlighten you about a small fact of life: the MTA team doesn't know everything and there are lots of people in this world and in this message board that probably know more than you guys about different things and scientific fields including computer science, programming, or whatever you were thinking of when you tossed that retort at me. Personally I reckon there's a good chance I know a bunch of stuff more, or just as good, as some of you do and another bunch better than any of you - IT speaking that is. Still leaves much for you to know better than me, so don't rush to get your crumpets in a bunch though. Anyway, turning this into a knowledge competition is the lamest thing that could happen IMO, not to mention it doesn't change facts, such as the UDP protocol's behaviour for one. Or my respect for your team and its efforts; just setting the record straight here... Rant done, over and out. Crashing happens to everyone from as frequently as every hour down to every second minute if there's some crash ripple spreading out because of modders. Dealing with it the way you say you do would definitely constitute monumental stupidity and overreaction. Nobody's gonna think you pause just cause you crashed; it takes considerably longer time for that to happen and a suspicious silence on your part as well. Just say "Crash" like most do when it happens and hit start game again. Once you're in the character selection screen again, your actor will be removed from other ppl's screens. That way you don't risk losing your spot or your score over nothing. Or look like a retard . Also, Brilliant! That's the definition of spam right there: to post when you have nothing to comment on.
  10. Heh, if every1 had to go through a week with nothing but dialup it'd change a lot in the way they think of lag, high pingers and the like. Very few ppl think before they whine these days. Anyway, if you asked me what the best serv setup of all time was, I'd probly say the 12 player official back in the day. Not too few players and not a sea of them either. In the majority of servs, most of the time a good 10% of the connected players will be idling or gone, so it's just a waste of BW maintaining the connections. And like zirc said, it makes matters far worse for ppl with slower cons. 24 sounds like "loadsa fun" usually, but it rarely lives up to the hype thinks me. IMO MTA isn't ready to handle 18+ players with acceptably high performance all around yet. Ppl are gonna lag it, serv's lag spikes will be more frequent and so will be the crash ripples especially during spawn wars. You'll hear ppl yellin "fokn crash" one after another before the bitchin starts and that's never a joyful moment. Especially if it's with a crowd foreign to this community, to which you have to reiterate that it's a gaddamn beta and not some game they laid down 29,95 to get. Naturally things might change with alterations to the netcode and the serv SW, but for the time being, IMO 16 should be considered a practical upper limit.
  11. How about you give me some more FYIs and tell me who "we" is and why they care about yours instead? Who is better with what is irrelevant to this thread. Ppl were posting challenges and pics of unique stuff, so by implication "what requires more skill" is also the point of the topic (that's the meaning of a challenge). BD's pics weren't unique, there was no challenge to his feats and that's what I commented on. You mean like I've done before in this thread and you haven't? Okay then, here's one more: Included witty remark: "Inspect the airport's radar installation from the inside!" And to wrap this up, I gotta say I love it how you give me lip about my comments on others' "challenges", when 5 pages up you reply to Gf's post with this: Guess I'll have to start givin my posts a cute ending too for them to be acceptable, eh rebel?
  12. Dunno if you care to really find out how to manipulate your router's FW, or you just want to deal with this any way possible. I can't help much if it's the first, but if you just want to deal with the outbound traffic kazaa creates, why don't you simply limit the max # of simultaneous u/l's and max u/l rate? Or you can just unshare everything you had in the list of dirs; it's all in K-Lite's options. 1 upload @ 5-10KB/s max shouldn't be any prob at all IMO. BTW what brand is your router?
  13. And that's exactly what this thread is about: for you to show off and throw us your lil manifestos on top of that. Pure pleasure... PS: "jumping with a bike around and goin places that way ain't nothin all that amazing" Maybe not, but it's definitely more skill demanding than crashing with the Dodo.
  14. Zhe stubby... She's trés spicy zhis time of zhe year, no? Sorry, couldn't resist .
  15. Yeah, hope they at least take out those annoying walking anims, eh Db ? Early Oct 2003 for me. Reckon it was the time of 0.2. Lotsa fun learnin the ways n' tricks back then with folks like Element, Phuk (VCP's mind you ), Rocket Guns, Shortsman, and the tons of other ppl I'm forgeting right now, that logged in on a daily basis @ the 12 player official to fool around and get some frags. "But they're down and sliding, how can I shoot them?!?"...
  16. Give the man his cigar. BTW Black Dragon, flyin the Dodo around and goin places that way ain't nothin all that amazing. Just an FYI.
  17. I guess y'all know what time it is then, eh? That's right! Time for the "whole server in a car" contest!! You got space for 10 ppl, or 16 ppl, or 24? Cool. The more, the better. Get every player in your serv in a single vehicle (chopper even better) and post here the vid or pics. Is this l33t crowd up for it? Lez find out .
  18. Just because it can be abused, that doesn't mean it can't be useful. If that was our prime mentality behind anything, we'd still be eating without utensils. I mean who cares if ppl could use it to flood? When you see them do that, you just ban them on the spot, or use a very simple flood script to deal with these kiddes. Besides, if someone wants to flood, they can do it as it is right now by just pasting the same shit over and over from the client. Point is it would help a lot in the cases I mentioned above. Suppose you want to privately arrange something with another player called SomeWeirdo123. Every time you'd want to reply to him you'd have to type "/msg SomeWeirdo123 ". Just for saying "ok", or "omw", or "meet you there" or something, you'd have to type all that preliminary stuff again and again; it can get very frustrating very quickly, believe me. And as far as lost text is concerned, I don't see what you base your argument on. It's UDP and UDP's simply unreliable. It can get lost on its way to the serv as much as it can on its way back - same % chance in both cases when you use the same route back n' forth. Just cause you may have seen text appear multiple times on your end (either tending to the serv or from your client) by ppl resending and saying it isn't going through, that doesn't mean it's like that every time. Hell, for all you know what you see on the chat box could only be 50% of all ppl are trying to say. Resending by pressing up would help with this problem as well. Anyway, you can keep shootin down my proposition if you must, but at least pls acknowledge that it'd be helpful as it addresses issues yet not resolved by any other means.
  19. Don't even think about packin it without the theme from Top Gun for audio background beesh .
  20. Looks like an F-22 Tigershark to me. Just thought I'd tell you. Fly it around dodging buildings and make a vid for us beesh .
  21. IMO the only things in the client that might need tweaking would be the main text's initial scrolling setting (follow the last entry instead of stay @ start as it is now) and the disconnect button being the default selection, which causes ppl pressing space >2 times by accident to bail a serv with all the consequences that might entail. Oh and I suppose previous messages buffering (4-5 last ones) and fast retyping by pressing up (IRC- or command prompt-style) from ingame as well as in the client could also be something to consider, since it would surely come in handy in the cases of text dropping due to packet loss and fast re-PMing.
  22. Erm, a few things here: Who said (or even suggested) anything about removing the client and working the MP solely from ingame? Do you even consider that logical? By the time MTA stop crashing "a lot" we'll be well past version 0.6, so it might be best to stay realistic here. Yeah, better for them to think you're a retard than a cheater... Seriously Jon, wtf?
  23. This doesn't start from the media Jon or any governors; as xenex very correctly pointed out, it starts with ppl not wanting to take responsibility for their actions and blaming others instead. Pleading to a court that you were pushed to go buy a gun and shoot up your school and everyone in it cause of the violence you were exposed to by playing videogames is not unheard of - in fact it has happened quite a few times. Of course to me and you that's completely lame, but lawyers have taken that line of defense many times in the past and if a judge (or jury) can be convinced (or swayed) to rule it was the game's fault as much as the defendant's, it automatically gives grounds for a flood of lawsuits and blame shifting to occur. News crews only come after that with stories for their prime-time news about how "what our innocent children play all day in the house may unbeknownst to us turn them into vicious killers" or what have you. When it hits the fan and maybe after some months and a few good protest rallies, games companies like R* and T2 issue a formal statement and maybe even slightly alter the content of their games and still no1's satisfied. On top of all that, politicians will try to stick their butts in and chime along to win some impressions (if it's an election year), but that's only to be expected I think. The point is, everyone in that little circle of BS is in to gain and nobody gives a shit about if it's really true or not; it's just a sterotype ripe for exploit. Don't get me wrong; of course PC games are trying to be more realistic in their depiction of action and violence as time goes by (rag doll physics, human expressions, blood splattering and decorations, realistic gun sounds and anims and anything else); there's no other way to go if you want to make a hit and some good bucks. Of course they play with current cultural trends like kids wanting to be thugs, or l33t snipers, or whatever. That still doesn't mean though that when anyone plays a game they switch off their critical ability or their preception of reality. Most people (assuming they're alright in their heads) know they're playing a game when they do and that they're not actually killing human beings. It's hilarious to try convinving ppl that that sniper who terrorized some US state a few months back for example couldn't tell he wasn't playing a game, or that 2 16yr old kids cappin 3 shoppers and the owner while holding up some local mart did so thinking they were in GTA world. I mean please. Anyway IMO it's all just a case of blaming others, something ppl usually do very willingly when they can use it as a means to get out of a shitty situation quickly and painlessly. Guess they don't realize this way they're practically acknowledging their lack of self-restraint, capacity for logical judgment, or downright common sense. "VC made me plate up my dozer and tear down 3 building blocks" my ass...
  24. Unless by that you mean all 80 are being rendered at some rate simultaneously, I don't see what lugging around a bigger data structure has to do with excess CPU/GPU workload. The delays will be elsewhere. BTW I think I remember hearing a statement similar to yours, about why MTA's slower than SP VC, that had to do with the multitude of players in the server as well. Can you pls comment on how the # of ppl affects the end framerate if so?
  25. This guy's definitely on some weird shit...
