  1. we have decided recently that the voice communication is not up to par of what we want for our first release. It was working but it wasn't the same quality that you'd get with something like teamspeak. So we decided that it'd be better to hold off on that feature for R2 ,and get this release to you as soon as we can. We will implement voice chat soon, but we figured you'd rather have the mod rather than us continuing to try to perfect something that could further push back the release date. Sorry if we got your hopes up, but it will be there eventually. Kent
  2. was that before or after you renamed your title from 'gay new video' to 'new video' on the KFC forums? we will keep our testers limited to true fans, not those who try to appear so to try to get what they want. Thanks, Kent

  4. non of the released maps will have been designed by team members (to my knowledge) every released map is from the testers themselves when they were checking out our level editor and offering feedback as far as usability goes. We thought this was the best way to get lots of maps out to the community, and to put some creativity back into your hands while we take care of the nitty gritty.. so, in short.. we aren't really looking for level designers.... HOWEVER... we are extremely excited to see some of the levels the community makes... Kent

  6. yes , we'll only be supporting v 1.0 initially, we do plan on expanding support to other versions, but we'd like to release something first Kent
  7. GTA3MTA0.2a, i remember playing online and thinking it was a great idea, but the netcode needed work... so i started talking to IJs and eventually he asked me to write the next server fro GTA3MTA0.3b,
  8. essentially yes... the old client was a seperate executable that wrote to memory addresses within GTA.. the new client embeds itself into GTA and actually runs as a part of GTA.. the exe we will release does little more than inject a dll into GTA.... it relies on GTA running to do all of its work
  9. the 1.1 patch worked with blue only to the degree that we knew it would be possible to support it in the future.. meaning our methods of hooking still work ok.. that does not mean however, that it was fully functional. A considerable ammount of work will still have to be done to support v1.1
  10. we've pretty much abandoned that core, the developers who worked on 0.5 were not working on blue, and alot of those members have become inactive. as a result the majority of our team is now focused on blue, and we don't have time to focus on that old core.
  11. its not really possible with the way GTA works, when MTA is loaded it only executes code while gta is executing code.... It's not really an option with the way MTA now interfaces with the game. Its just something that people will have to get used to. Kent

  13. you can't alt tab in any other online game, why should gta be any different
  14. not for race mode sorry, we'll look into this after our first release the leviathon magnet thing was specially coded in the scm... you'll be able to implement this with the SDK when we release it. but its not possible inthe race mode. we disabled turrets for teh race mode, it wasnt' worth the extra bandwith to sync them. we disabled all trains for race mode, haven't really tried them in multiplayer we'll look into this ( don't expect much for this first release though) free roam essentially works like this, the freeroam 'race' starts and you spawn in a car in the middle of a field, around you are a bunch of vehicle change pickups. you can drive around and get whatever pickup you want and do whatever you want from that point.

    MTA: SA Question

    it'll work on lan, one person will have to run the server, and all people playing would have to connect to that server's ip manually. Kent
  17. the current version only works with the 1.0 executable, we are going to work to support all versions of GTA at some point, but we are finalizing this one first, the others _should_ be trivial afterwards, but the codebase we work on will have to be solidified a bit more before we can work to port it. Kent
  18. more than 1. j/k i'd say its pretty reliable to say more than 30, the max player count is actually something we haven't coded in yet, we're going to decide that once we determine everything else is ready
