  1. who are you to talk like SA-MP is the ONLY alternative multiplayer mod!! That was in reply to what JonChappell said in regards to SA:MP fanboys, it had no relation to what was said in the interview atall, nor would i ever make that claim then the thread is going offtopic... :P

  3. I dont see where we said that we had the sole rights to develop multiplayer GTA mods... can you point me to that please?? We are fine w/ competing mods, we just figured people could be more creative... There's a lot of other single player games I'd like to be involved in if I hadn't joined the MTA team.. Morrowind, Max Payne, Mafia? But thats life, good luck with your mod. We'll be trying to push out the best product we can regardless. Kent

    1000th Post!!

Well, I've finally hit my 1000th post (although you probably can't see my postcount) .. and I took a while to ponder where my life is at this point I'm excited to still be a part of this project, and to still have fans of this project, and I want to take this time to extend a sincere Thank You. It has been a pleasure to work with the team, and to try to make fun stuff for everyone to play. When I joined MTA was just a trainer that hardly worked.. and I have helped and watch it mold into what everyone sees now. I'm proud to be associated with the team, and to be working on something everyone else actually enjoys playing. Its truly a unique feeling to fire up ASE and see 1000 people from all over the world playing something I had a hand in. Or to see that we've had nearly 70,000 downloads already for this version! Thats more than the population of my home town. It is humbling and gratifying in a unique way that I will never forget. And if you like MTA now, just wait to see what we have in store Kent
  5. You read the forum rules, they require you to stay on topic... If you wish to continue using our server's resources, I suggest you obey them. Kent
  6. himselfe: this post was made regarding what we have done.. your complaints are offtopic. If you'd like to discuss this you can take it elsewhere, another forum entirely. please do not post another offtopic post in this thread again. Thanks. (a reply defending your actions is also completely offtopic to the original post) Thanks, Kent
  7. that was all we've accomplished in 2 Days... we hadn't even considered footsync until recently. if you'd like to see what we've accomplished you're welcome to try out our race mod and map editor, unfortunately you can't see the underlying structure of everything else we've been building. Kent
  8. in our irc channel #mtamapping on irc.multitheftauto.com we have info for a server you can upload maps to with a php script and info to connect.. works great for testing your maps, also our channel is a good place to hang out because a lot of other great mappers are there to offer opinions and ideas. Kent
  9. O_o? You dont need an ISO, and I'm sure you already have an ISP. The win32 server that you download should be all you need to get set up and running.
  10. I'm not sure what the problem would be if it isn't firewall related. Alternatively you could try this site: http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php? ... =&game=mta its not good for getting an accurate ping, but its definitely a large enough list to find a good place to play Kent
  11. Not yet Somaro, this is something we'll consider in future releases. Kent

    Ports?

best way to do it is to get a friend to look for it, or to leave the server running while you play Kent
  13. If you press F6 it will focus on the currently selected object There's lots of other cool stuff check out our documentation at http://www.mtavc.com/docu/index.php/Map_Editor_Manual we'll look into that 'bug' you report.
  14. Here's a list of _possible_ causes. This is not complete, and if I find any others I'll update it. 1. You have a software firewall running. To fix this simply turn off the firewall or specifically allow MTA access to the internet. 2. You are a part of a large network (such as a university) that blocks UDP traffic in an attempt to curb use of some peer to peer file transferring programs. (such as Kazaa) 3. Your ISP blocks UDP traffic for a similar reason in #2 (doubtful, if this were the case most of your other online games would not work either). Kent
  15. hahaha nice find. this will invariably mess up your multiplayer experience, could lead to crashing, and will cause you to become desynced.. but pretty funny approach
  16. this means that your version of San andreas has modified files. MTA needs a clean install of San Andreas because it needs to be sure that everyone else is playing with the same files. if you do not wish to uninstall your old mods (understandably), it'd be best to make a second install of GTA, and reinstall MTA telling it to use that second installation. Kent

  18. there is a limit per section of map.. but I'm not sure what it is , ChrML should know what that limit is the simplest solution is to spread your map overa larger area if you have lots of objects... if you're pushing the limits of what can be drawn you'll likely be stressing out lower end pc's anyways, so keep that in mind when designing
  19. I was able to recreate this with my laptop, the problem seems to be centered only around ATI IGP graphics chips... the omega driver may be a solution for some, unless ATI can come out with a fix. sorry guys. Kent
  20. Good question. The editor is basically just a front end for creating map files... you can open the .map file in notepad and notice that it is all in XML format. the editor only supports 1 type of starting vehicle, but the spawn points are written into the XML file with the vehicle for each spawn point. you just have to manually edit the map to change specific starting point vehicles. Kent
  21. in this release we didn't put anything in there to turn off the HUD, we may do this in our next release or sometime in the future. Regarding the tree problem, I think a little practice should help you out there Kent

    quiestion

yes, you must own a copy of GTA for your pc to be able to play this mod. Kent

    Ports?

port binding is only done on the server, the clien allocates an arbitrary port, most routers will allow this just fine, if you have a software firewall you may have to set it to specifically allow the client to connect. As far as port forwarding goes, however, you shouldnt have to do anything for the client. we couldn't even tell you a port to forward, as the port is different every time you run the game. Kent
  24. we haven't had any reports of this by other server operators, we'll try to see what the deal is... it is most likely something to do with the operating system as you said. If you can get any more info please post here Kent
