  1. First of all, turn of capslock. Please, it gives the headache-inducing illusion that you're shouting at us. As for the pic, it didn't work for me. I just got a "this page could not be displayed" error from geocities.
  2. I reckon if people are actually gonna BE cops, then don't you think they should have access to some cool vehicles? Like, the higher the number of stars someone has, the better vehicles get unlocked at the police stations? Here's the basic outline: Naturally, the “Star” system (how you get stars after you commit crimes) would have to be tweaked a bit. If you committed a small crime, such as running a few people over, and got one star, nothing much would really happen. A star would appear above you head, and only cops that are within sight of you could realise that you’ve committed a crime. If you had two stars, then fairly much the same thing would happen, except a small star would appear on the radar of any cops within a mile radius of you. Three stars? Same thing happens, except the radius increases, and a bit more weaponry is unlocked in the police station. The helicopter appears at the top with the gun on the bottom. Keep in mind that the gun on the bottom isn’t very powerful, so this isn’t really an overkill. At four stars, things really start to heat up. Swat vans are unlocked, and people who climb in it and act as the swat dudes automatically get some cool guns and uniforms! Detective cars also appear and whoever gets in them get dressed in casual clothes, except they have body armour and Uzi’s. At five, the radius increases yet again, and helicopters appear with the marines that come down on ropes, which yet again will be players, but if it there is not enough people playing, it will simply be a few computer controlled dudes. At six, well, lets just say anyone who is breaking the law and is the radius of the (single) tank that’s unlocked, will be dead very quickly. Heh. Anyway, yeah, a tank is unlocked as well a few of the big trucks that carry army dudes in the back. At seven, that’s right, seven, another tank is unlocked as well as another 2 trucks. The star now appears on every cops radar no matter where they are. At the last star, eight, which would be damn near impossible to get to, 2 kickass Apaches are unlocked, as well as another tank, and more weaponry appears in the cop shop. Now you can see why people would be clambering to get on the cop’s side. Remember that if a cop attacks someone for no reason (eg. They don’t have any stars), then he would also get a star. It would be harder for cops to get stars though, as when your racing through a back ally after a criminal going at 248 km/hr, you don’t really have time to slow down for pedestrians. I think there would be enough police to make this work (if it was implemented) - for gods sake, there's already a seven page topic in the gangs section of the forum! Anyway, that's the basic outline. What do you think? When police are just walking around normally they wouldn't be allowed to carry heavy weapons (that would kinda suck - instead of a high speed chase they could just use a single rocket ), and you would get more money if you "busted" someone rather than just killing them. I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement though...
  3. Personally, I would prefer MTA over GTAT because in the early stages it looks more solid, it's got a bigger fan base, and it's better known. Please note that my opinion doesn't really matter, because not only do I have the Aussie version of Vice City (so MTA won't work), but I'm behind a firewall (so GTAT won't work). I look foward to future releases where these problems might be over come...
  4. Yeah man, think like a massive yearly MTA Tournament or something between 3 gangs or something. Mwahaha! We can only hope PS. I made a reply to your post, go check it out.
  5. Sounds cool. When I first thought of Vice City online, I also thought it would be cool if people could hop on the back of certain vehicles and gun - like the BF Injection, out the side doors of a helicopter, out the back doors of a van, possibly even lying on the back of a Cheetah, shooting up followers... dunno about a dodo which you could hang onto the wings... seems a bit far-fetched, slipstream is hefty when your going so fast. As for a helicopter that can transport people, I was thinking a chinook or something. Like, it would just have a big square hole in the middle where you could park a car and seats on the side where players could sit. Naturally it would have small walls on it to stop the car sliding off. I know I'm drifting a little off topic here, but while we're on the topic of aircraft, how cool would it be if they implemented parachutes that you could buy for yourself or a vehicle that you might decide to air-drop down inside your base or something? By the way, on the topic of Dodos for VC, perhaps you should check out the The Dodo Project
  6. This what you're looking for? http://www.codenamevice.co.uk/show_article.asp?Id=94 How do you convert something from GTA3 to Vice City? Or are you going to do the dirty work for us ( ) and release a Vice City version?
  7. Indeed. Heh. I love the car, it's great fun (even if the sidewalk is a problem ) I look foward to your future creations. I reckon there should be more "fun" mods such as this one for Vice City. Nice job. (By the way, I think you screwed up the collision model for the helicopter, because after switching vehicles.coll , the helicopter bounced up and down on the top of my condo, and it knocked me down when I attempted to get in. Hillarious, but annoying nonetheless )
  8. What if they were playing on a shared computer? Like a family computer or something, and their brother/sister wanted to play as well, but couldn't because of their brothers/sisters idiocy? Oh ya, and I'm pretty sure that people with dial-up connections don't have permanent IP adresses. They change every time they connect.
  9. First of all, MTA doesn't work for me, so I apologise if these things are already in there (even though I doubt that they are). Just a small things, but don't you think it would be cool if you had several people in the back of a van (like a SWAT Van or something), and they could throw open the back doors and start shooting up any cars that might be tailing them? (The shooting would be done in first person) Secondly, I think that to emphesise (sorry, can't spell ) the whole "gang turf" deal, I reckon gangs should be able to buy properties around the city (naturally there would be a heap added), but they would have to watch out for invaders because other gangs could take them over. This would also function as a spawn point when a gang member logged on. Different buildings would have different advantages - a skyscraper might have a helipad at the top and several snipering windows, but a normal house might have several garages (so that other gangs couldn't touch your cars... useful? Possibly...) etc., you get the idea. The latter would be very hard to program, but I reckon it would be a great addition. Of course, gangs would have to be more official.
  10. I wouldn't worry about it that much. Most people are mature enough to not use your name, and if they aren't then just ignore them. They're obviously out to annoy, and if they don't get any reaction they'll probably go and annoy someone else. PS. Learn some better insults. Perhaps you should take a look at insults.net
  11. Are any other people having troubles with MTA using the Aussie version of VC? I sure hope the next MTA release fixes this prob...
  12. Perhaps you should read the readme, no? You mean you start up Vice City and start a new game? In 0.2, you have to click "start game" button just under "disconnect" in the MTA client.
  13. Uh huh, MTA 0.1 didn't work either... Don't worry, it won't screw anything up. As far as I know, it simply records things like your username (so you won't have to type it in every single time) etc. I think it also records where your gta-vc.exe is, as when I tried to go "start game" it popped up a box asking where it was. It'll make a new mta.ini automatically anyway. Erm... did that make sense?
  14. Uh huh, I did but it still came up with the error message when I told it where gta-vc.exe was. (When I clicked Start Game) Perhaps it just doesn't like the Aussie version?
  15. Hi all. I just finished downloading MTA 0.2 (which I was very excited about), only to find that when I connected to a server and clicked "Start Game" in the client window, it came up with an error message saying "Unable to find game version. Aborting..." or something along those lines. The path for VC that I gave it in the install was correct, and I'm completely blank on what to do... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Yay! Hyper rules! I've had my subscription for about three years now, and the mag's still going strong (This month is it's tenth birthday)! Anyway, good on the MTA team! (Even if MTA 0.2 doesn't work for me... but I'm off to the problems forum to complain about THAT )
  17. I doubt that anyone can help me, but here goes... Aye, I get an Unhandled Exception error. It happens just after I've finished loading after clicking "New Game". I've got an Aussie version of the game, running Windows XP Pro. I've tried everything detailed in the clientreadme, the FAQ section of the site, and in the forums. Please help!
