  1. i beg to differ cerb, i run the game at 1280 and play for 5 hours strait at a time and i never notice any slowdown, it depends on ur system specs, thats the only thing that tells u what rez u can run the game at. How is that different to what I said? Most people simply don't bother to find out the limit they can run the game at without slowdown, they just put up with it. The minority like you, eAi and myself will no doubt have tried different settings to see which works best for thier system. The keyword is "Minority" though, and I think you'd agree with me on that.
  2. I've always been highly critical of the MTA:VC team removing this. Games like Unreal Tournament, Quake, Half-life and GTA2 maintained such longevity because they allowed map modifications to be used in both single and multiplayer modes. To remove this needlessly starves the modding community of one of the greatest gameplay additions possible.Retaining the standard deathmatch mode with the CRC checks required to prevent cheating is a great idea which I admire and I'm glad it was implemented so well. However, an "unlimited" mode should also be included whereby no checks for trainers or modifications are made. Additionally, distributing a decompiled version of the SCM so that the many serious, professional-grade modifiers who work with Vice would enable such projects as Myriad Islands, Dexxland, Majera, GTA: Berlin and London Vice to enter a whole new dimension through multiplayer. I simply cannot express fully how devastating I find it when every new version of MTA:VC contains no ability to use deathmatch on new maps and doesn't enable other talented modifiers to make the best of this by distributing a decompiled SCM. I'm totally amazed that, at the time of making this post, there are 4 votes against and only 4 votes for allowing map modifications.
  3. Ah, a memory hack program *could* use the causal nature of computing to it's advantage to synchronise much as GTA1/2 do. However, you are incorrect about pedestrians always moving in the early GTA's. They were drawn precisely the same as GTA3 and Vice - think about it; having a square kilometre of animated pedestrian sprites would require more processing power than most machines in the mid nineties could muster. (EDIT) The worry with memory hack type programs is that they drain system resources quite drastically on many machines. As most players don't have the sense to turn down thier resolution to make Vice run correctly in NORMAL play and few turn it turn further to allow full speed in MTA:VC, adding yet another rapidly updating program to memory will surely cripple many players' computers and create unplayable levels of lag for those in the game with them?
  4. LOL! You're less decisive than the War Against Terrorism! Also you can't read. The image clearly shows that VCXS claimed the Haitan drugs factory as only the second entry! I don't know of any others. I've added [Drug] to the map, they claimed Hyman Stadium.
  5. I'm pretty sure that my analysis of the civilian actor problem in GTA3 and Vice was correct. Computer games are not (and actually cannot) contain any truely random function. The only chaotic factor is user input but the results it causes are decided by the game engine and therefore follow rigid systems. Nothing random about it whatsoever. The problem is making sure the game engines are making thier next-frame calculations based on the same environment. Meaning that all vehicles MUST be in the precise same positions, all actors in the right positions facing the right direction with thier shooting precisely matching. If any slight deviation from perfect synchronisation occurs, the magical effect of the serendipity of the game engines is lost. Because Vice and GTA3 do not run thier calculations based on the frame rate, ensuring this snynchronisation is not broken is all but impossible. If it was easy to make playable multiplayer R* would have done it, just like they did with GTA1, GTA: London '69 (and '61) and GTA2. It's a bad and unworkable idea, so trash it along with the others I say. Creating a street racing mode and/or distributing an SCM kit with which people can add multiplayer support to thier own map mods (as is so desperatly needed with Dexxland, Majera and as would benefit Myriad Islands so well) should be the number 1 priority for the MTA:VC team. I've harped on about this in other threads and nudge the MTA team every month or two with great positive response, but no actual work comes from it.
  6. Yep.I'm totally with Curly on this one and am totally bemused why IJs isn't as well. This has been discussed to death and has been shown unfeasable every time. By running a simple forum search folks like eAi and myself wouldn't have to keep posting the same response because of people making the threads. I'm sure you meant well but running a search would have been much more helpful.
  7. Hehehe, I agree that having two HQ's right next to each other is a bad idea but so is claiming a whole island for yourself. Wheelman, a picture would be excellent because then I'll be able to see your position directly on the GPS/Radar thing. Pizza Boys, unfortunatly it's a first come first served system in this thread. If you can arrange a one-on-one or team match against the current owners of Phil's place, RR, then by all means fight for it. I'll require at least one member from both teams to confirm whatever result comes from it, to be sure it was a fair match. Personally I really think you should take a Well-stacked Pizza resaurant. Some are in fantastic locations: the one north of the Malibu is not far from the Cheetah (east) and also the Deluxo (south-west). There is health not far north and a helicopter even closer. Seems like a pretty cool place to me. It isn't near any spawn points so you can meet up there without being disturbed when playing publicly.
  8. When playing with friends on private servers you can use the whole of the city by playing a sort of "assualt" style, where you split into two teams, decide on a location for one team to defend whilst the other attacks. Once all the defenders are dead (they can't leave the the area they are defending) then the roles change. Once the new defenders are all killed, you all agree on the next location. However, on public servers you just can't do this and so everyone ends up in Little Havana for the whole game, which gets real old real fast. Thing is, because of helicopters none of the map is inaccessble and if you remove the helicopters you lose one of the most stylish and risky methods of killing other players. What I'd campaign for is for the MTA team to release a basic, decompilable SCMs which supported the deathmatch and stunt modes but maybe didn't have all the animation details which were included in the 0.3 edition. Better yet, supply it fully functional because people still need to download the client and server stuff from the MTA team anyway, so they wouldn't be losing out on anything. If they did that, multiplayer would simply explode as people started making deathmatch levels and purpose-built multiplayer stunt courses. Wouldn't that just be the greatest? It would be like the glory days of GTA2 online gaming all over again.
  9. Erm, quite what are the limits on this? Do you think you have a right to control everyone who enters onto the official servers? What about unofficial servers? What if someone sets up a server and lists it on ASE as "This is a cheat server" - would you ban them from the wojie network for that, even if they didn't cheat when they played elsewhere? What about clans who set up private servers just for them to cheat and don't cheat when playing publicly? And what exactly are they banned from, anyway?
  10. The only one which has a dock marked on is the one I've set you as. I know that a couple of the others have fronts, you weren't really specific enough so there's a good chance that I've picked the wrong one out of the three.Give me compass directions because "the one at the back" doesn't mean anything! Brophy, if you change your clan name again I seriously won't update it. Such a bloody stress having to convert bits of the original radar textures, copy them and float them in. You may have to use CTRL+F5 to update the image.
  11. Please search before you make a suggestion. There is a limit on how many cars can be added into MTA:VC via the main.SCM file and they are already very close to that limit.
  12. Yes, it should. Me and my over-enthusiasm.
  13. I've made this thread so folks can show off interesting ways that they've managed to reach interesting areas of Vice. To start off, here's how myself and Ashdexx managed to reach a set of rooftops in Littla Haiti. The route we took: 1024 x 768 version Successfuly reaching it: 1024 x 768 version Once on this set of rooves, carefully timed jumps whilst sprinting will enable you to explore quite a few of these buildings from a quite unique perspective!
  14. Ok, that makes sense and should suit everyone. I've updated the image in the first post accordingly, I hope I've placed you in the correct area?
  15. This is a matter for PM or IM, not for the general forum area.
  16. Grand Theft Auto is not and never was a first-person tactical combat simulator. Again, I'd like to point out that the thread I linked to has the discussion of why having NPC's would be a terrible idea, which therefore defeats any purpose which this topic may have had.
  17. Oh, I know the one you mean now. If you want a snazzy car park, why not take "Washington Mall", including its car park? That's one of the most detailed locations in the whole of Vice, with a couple of vehicles that spawn in the ground-level car park and there's health just over the road at the hospital. Certainly worth considering before you make your final choice imho. Is the blue dragon thing going to be resolved, or shall I just forget about adding an entry on the map for them?
  18. Informal game modes are always a lot more fun than scripted ones, that's why I've always been so keen on the stunt server mode being so free. Even in the more strict "street racing" mode I want to be introduced, I wouldn't want to force the way people decide to race by using a set number of laps or set locations. Just leaving those abstract decisions for folks to arrange via the chat window is always going to suit more people than coding something that HAS to be used, imho.
  19. This is already being discussed here. Please don't make duplicate topics.
  20. It's possible that you got banned simply because you share part of your IP address with someone else who got banned on a wildcard. A few people living around the Guildford area in S.E. England got banned because the NTL area hub was put on the Wojie network ban list, which included me.
  21. No, I can't add that because you can only get up there by cheating with a trainer or modified car, right? As for the "BD" dispute, I'll wait until you sort out just what the problem is before I add anything about it.
  22. Yes you are, actually, the precise same problems arise. Please don't make a new topic when you are discussing the exact same topic as another - particularly when it's still active! This topic is the active one discussing this issue. If you read it, you'll see it mentions limitations on the number of player and actor characters.
  23. LMAO! Just use notepad and set it up before you start your server. It's no hassle re-starting the server to change game modes, in fact it's the healthiest option because that way everyone that was connected will be made aware that the role of the server has changed. Same goes for changing the server name; if you've changed the name then you must have changed the role the server must play and therefore need to update ASE by re-starting.As for the un-blocking during gameplay, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I thought the AdminServer program MTA released displayed all the people connected as admins?
  24. Cerbera

    Traffic.

What?eAi Don't worry, it's irrelevant. My post is all you need to stick in topics asking for civilians in multiplayer.
  25. Do you have a set of letters I could use? "The Blue Dragons" isn't going to fit beside a dot on the map.
