While we're at it..

NOTE: This is an archived post, and information in here no longer applies to the forums. Everything in this section is kept only for nostalgia!
TL;DR = Don't try to use this
The mods are clearly understaffed right now and people need to come to them, not the other way around. This is where you say "But wait, I contact mods and they never respond!!!". Well, usually the problem is you are only contacting ONE moderator. Now you can contact ALL moderators easily!
Click the [ Contact the moderators ] button at the top right (next to profile, personal messages, login/logout) to contact the moderators. You can also click here:
Enter your subject and message. This will create a message in a forum called "Complaints" that ONLY moderators can view. That means you will not be able to view the board or your submitted message.
If this is not working for you, you can try the old fashioned method, sending a private message to 1 or more mods:

Because the team is like that...
What are you? Hidden MTA developer?
And yes Rockstar is allowed to do that because the PS2/Sony contract applies i believe only to consoles not other forms of reproducing games. Anyways i think it expired too....You must be a Rockstar/Take2 insider
SA's MP didnt have netcode because a) it was stupid to write netcode when they can do it on the same console b) it isnt worth it for a console like PS2 c) if it did then the PS2 would burn down because it wouldnt be able to handle it (altho there have already been reports of PS2s overheating and damaging)Seems like you are PS2 engineering expert too.
Now seriously, what gives you the right to accuse us from making money behind everyone's back, creating a hoax and some other lame things you've said and I didn't even bothered reading.
We offer our own spare time and anger for this project. What do we get in return? Nothing (except for appreciation and hate).
Noth"ing (?), n. [From no, a. + thing.]1. Not anything; no thing (in the widest sense of the word thing); -- opposed to anything and something.
2. Nonexistence; nonentity; absence of being; nihility; nothingness. Shak.
3. A thing of no account, value, or note; something irrelevant and impertinent; something of comparative unimportance; utter insignificance; a trifle.
Do we take donations? No.
Do we place paid advertisements? No.
Do we sell our software for money? No.
I hope you can figure out what that means: free software.
Maybe we should not blame this guy for not understanding this. After all it's not in the FAQ.

Solaris, anyone?
-
Well im sure we could generate a hash out of gathered hardware, networking and personal information.
Who would be willing to host the masterservers though. Cause we would probably need more than 1.

Take a look at Half-Life's MetaMod which 'extends' Half-Life's (mod) capabilities. There are a few really good mods (plugins) for MetaMod: Admin Mod, AMX (almost dead) and AMX Mod X. If you look under the Plugins section of Metamod's site you see there are dozens of mods available, and only the best of them are used. But there are also smaller mods which add small things, and might come in handy for some server admins.

They probably had an ISP which had multiple ip ranges (80.x.x.x, 203.x.x.x, 81.x.x.x), just like my ISP or alot of other ISP's i know (they don't have dynamic ip addresses though).

oh about the site, it happens sometime, the mta forums/site have been down a few times as well.
The other mods have other reasons for downtime. If your site was attacked the same way we were, your site would've been history. Trust me on that one.
actually i dont even understand why you are talking about gtat itself, because the topic isn't about it, but about mta's current core, and the scm things mr respectless.Because most people still see Dracoblue's GTAT as the only worthy competitor for MTA, instead of other modifications.

Here's a poll for all MTA users, especially the users who run their own MTA servers.
What operating system are you using or would you prefer for the MTA Server.
We want to increase the support for our server application by compiling it for different operating systems and under different configurations, not just 1 version for Linux and 1 for Win32 like we have right now, but versions for different versions of BSD and Linux (and maybe some other known OSses), think of .deb's for Debian and .rpm's for Redhat, etc.
If you're not using the server right now, and if you think you aren't going to use it in the near future, please don't vote.
If you would vote Windows, don't vote either. This is about non-Windows operating systems.
The Win32 platform is removed, cause we know that at least (and even more than) 50% of the users is using Windows.
If you choose Other OS please be specific what operating system you mean (version and any related URLs would be nice as well).
-
Our mta.scm suites to our needs, the normal main.scm doesn't.
It's nicer to keep MTA and the original GTA separated, easier for us and easier for the users.
Note: CURRENT core 0.3, not blue
-
gcc 2.95 / gcc 3.3 problems
We might increase the support for different system setups (operating systems, gcc versions) next release.
-
Most proxy's out there work on TCP, not on UDP. And UDP is the protocol MTA uses.

(Vass) ok to sum up, kfc were (0.2.2) cheaters, thats proved. who knows if they cheat nowadays, so beware of KFC
(Vass) and new mta record: this thread has the most replies in a short time ever
(Vass) and as all flamers have enough
With that being said i lock this thread due to:
too much flaming
too much spamming
etc. etc.
-
Lets join #mta on irc.multitheftauto.com and talk this out, and dont spam/flood this forum
This isnt a chat thread.. is it?
-
Lemme point you to some statements in MTA:VC 0.2.2's eula:
MTA:VC v0.2.2 LICENSE AGREEMENTCopyright © 2002-2003 MTA Team, http://www.multitheftauto.com
PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. BY INSTALLING AND USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT, DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE SOFTWARE.
Altering and/or changing the executables and/or other binaries included within this installation package in ANY possible way is forbidden.Decompiling, disassembling or otherwise Reverse engineering of ANY of the included executables and/or binaries is forbidden. It's clear that the files, the client and the SCM mission script, are modified. Either the client was altered to load a different scm -or- the scm was altered. Both options are forbidden, as the EULA states, so this can be considered as cheating.
Remember we have added a cheat/file altering protection as well in 0.2.2..
-
Compare it to another multiplayer game like Counter-Strike. The server 'decides' what addons you should be running. Once you join the server, your client will load those addons.

How do you know

What about you take a look at the introduction topic?

Hmm, the GTA1 San Andreas map doesn't look like the new San Andreas map at all
It brings up nice memories though
