  1. Yes, I really have to agree here, I've been saying this for month. But the freeroam owners have to understand this problem, it's not as simple as saying "I'm playing freeroam, let me do that how is it a problem to you ?". It really is a major problem to everyone. The problem is that I don't think you need dp3 for this, you could already start using mta in a better way now, but till now I haven't seen it. As much as I love mta, I think you should stop developping it. I don't see how this logic could change seeing what your beloved community has done till now. You've overestimated the people using your software. At least publish dp3, and see what happens, but unfortunately I don't have high hope about that. The sadest thing here is that you really did a damn good job but it doesn't get "rewarded" so to say.
  2. I think everything is said here, I totally agree; it really sums up the situation. Just to answer to this: First, we never said it was the devs's fault if there is only freeroam; they have done their job right as far as I know, so the "fault" really lies in the community (servers owners and players). Donb't turn us against the devs because we always defended them and we appreciate their work. About "it's reviving GTA"...tell me how: with 3 top servers with approx. 20 players playing freeroam, and then nothing else ? It makes me wonder really
  3. DarkDragon has a point, well a whole lotta points actually. People attract people, that's obvious, so if everybody is on freeroam, you won't find a decent tdm or anything else with some people. It's like an undending circle. To those saying gta looses it's "spirit" with mta...I'm sorry, you shouldn't be expecting from mta to give you the same thing as in single player mode + multiplayer. That is just wrong. If you litteraly put gta in multiplayer it would be dead boring...yes you've read right, just porting the single player mode is plain boring. And no, this is not what mta does ! You can't give a huge area with no limits to, say, 32 players ! It makes no sense. I know most of you think gta is all about freedom, but hey here is the thing: a good multiplayer mod is a mod where you put heavy constraints ! That sounds contradictory ? I don't think so! The keyword here is focus, because to keep a very small amount of people entertained, you have to reduce the game area and put a clear goal. You don't want to spend 3/4 of the time just moving to the action field, you are not playing mutliplayer for that. I think people really need to understand that; putting constraints is a must, that's the only way a multiplayer makes senses; yeah, even in GTA. Take far cry or crysis: maybe not an example, but see how the single player mode brings a huge area, while the multiplayer mode only brings you a limited map...it's no surprise: in multiplayer you don't want people to get lost, you want them to be focused; the only counter example for this would be a mmo, like WoW, where you can afford to bring huge universes; but we are talking about an action game, so by all means, keep the game focused. And stop with that bad freeroam habit. I don't, know, at least unite and make ONE freeroam server, but not a thousand of them; otherwise, other mods just can't "exist" ! And I might also add, otherwise Mta can't exist, quite simply put. It's such a shameless waste to see people who create freeroams just not understand how, by doing this, they are killing mta. Seeing this I would even have prefered to see no release of mta than that, really. And I'm no developper so I'm not even close to know how they feel, but I can guess...actually, they promised a nearly perfect mode, they hold their promise and see what happens once it is in the hands of the community... I still hope it will change though, it is never to late to react (talking to modders and server owners here)
  4. Come on, I respect every player out there but face it: freeroam is the death of mta, quite simply. Mta is a nearly perfect software, really people have to learn how to use it....what about Team Deathmatch ? What about assault ? What about team based games? If you don't have popular servers with those, mta will never "take off". Basically, if you want a good mod you need to things : - team based - the objective has to be easy to understand I saw there is that tendency of making RPG servers....while the intention is good, in the end, it is just a diguised freeroam. There is no objective that stands out. of course you may kill people from the other team but hey...I said "you may"... there is no absolute objective easy to understand for everyone. A good change for this would be kicking if teamkilling, and making a common bank account for the whole team; that account would only fill if for instance as a criminal you kill a policeman, and so on depending on your role.
  5. About that, I would like to say something. I think the player number won't increase, final release or not, and it is not mta's fault; I think the major reason why people don't want to play mta is because when you connect, the only servers with a decent number of players are freeroam servers...now, I don't mean to flame, but seriously, who in the world would want to play freeroam all the time ? I mean you have a wonderfull software, which is mta, you could play team based mode with true objectives, short said: a real game...but no, some still insist by bringing up their freeroam server on every page. I think those server owners are doing more bad than good; perhaps they should put team deathmatch or anything team based instead, that makes people want to play... If you waited for mta to put freeroam online, well you missed the point. It's as if you had a ferrari, but you only drive the car for 500 meters then go back home. A waste of potential. The tool is here, works like a charm. If the users don't make a good use of it, don't even hope more people will come; appart that bunch of people who play freeroam all the time, no one new will come. I haven't written for a while on the boards but I'm firmly convinced that this is one major reason why mta can't "take off"; I hope people will agree and try to make a good use of the mod, so to say.   7. Well thanks that's interesting ... they say they have a big team, or at least big enough to handle two projects, but seeing the updates on blue, I doubt it. Besides they said themselves in one post (don't remember which, it was just right when 0.5 was out and lots of bugs where in it), to one guy asking about blue that they didn't have the time to make progresses as everybody was concentrating on Mta 0.5 and the bugs related to it. That might have been at that time you might say, but I still think it is the case. Unfortunately. I wish you luck devs, I still trust in what you do
  8. I don't want to sound rude or something, because I really appreciate your involvment since the early days, but... The time you are spending on mta 0.5, which you said uses an "old fashioned" way of synchronizing (compared to Blue), represents less time for developping Blue. Actually I don't get it : why don't you deliberatly choose to leave this old fashioned program aside, for the benefits of Blue? Okay, I'm sure the community would be very angry, but since Blue is the future, why do you still care about the "old" MTA ? Besides, San Andreas is coming and you will surely use Blue for that, not the old MTA...so why such efforts ? Again, it's just a question to the devs, hope that all I wrote is not insulting to them, because it's really not meant to be so.

I'm so ok with Mr Bump This game is shit he barely admitted And he is right ; not shit because of the software, which is even in this early stage really good, but because of people playing it (the cheaters at least) But if I may say, whith specific gamemodes and no pure stubby deathmatch, people would perhaps stop cheating, and concentrate on the gamemode
  11. I once posted about the stubby (btw can't find the post now, as if it had been deleted...) ; most reaction were kinda "you noob, your lame" and so on... But truly the stubby is quite annoying I don't think that improving the m60 is a solution ; reconsidering the stubby is one But there I'll just repeat what a dev said: they are too busy for now, in terms of technical problems, so that they really didn't make a balance Give them the time, and they'll make a real gameplay, not a random shooting area like it is now (obviously it's normal, we're only in 0.41)
  12. Thanks that's what I meant ; If it is so easy to script game modes in v 0.41, I think they'll include some basic modes in the future Man it's meant to be the revolution, no evolution ! ; so I expect a lot indeed
  13. Sure they'll have gamemodes, because it would be total nonsense to publish a 0.5 version without them (sorry no better argument lol).
