  2. MTA doesn't crash. It just gives me a message like when you get kicked, saying that it was unable to download file xy. I guess since MTA doesn't crash I don't have a core.txt file in my MTA folder.
  3. Another server, not my own one.
  4. I have deleted everything, and MTA has re-created them. But when I connect, it says for example: Unable to load "votemanger/votemanager_client.lua" Shouldn't it be able to load it, since MTA has created them earlier?
  5. This was kinda weird. When I have started this tool it told me that I have 2 versions of MTA installed: 1.1.1 and 1.2. I took a look at the list of installed programs and there it has shown me 2 versions as well so I tried to delete the older one. It said that it was already deleted though. Anyhow, I have started MTA now again, and I was able to connect, but I don't really wanna trust in this all now. Some days ago I had the same problem, after a little time it worked again then. How did the problem appear again then: I was playing on a server when a new map got loaded. It told me that it was unable to load a texture file or w/e it was, and I got kicked out of the server. I tried to connect to other servers then and wasn't successful. About this diagnostic program: I've seen these lines and the rest doesn't seem to contain any good informations. It said that there are no problems.
  6. Everytime I connect to a server it gives me an error that I can not download a file (it is always a different one) and kicks me out of the server. I have re-installed MTA 3 - 4 times already and still nothing. I got the newest version of MTA (1.2 or w/e). I appreciate every kind of help.
  7. I also thought that it has to do with my connection. But thanks for your reply. It is somehow sad for me to see that such bugs [i guess I am right when I call this so] appear in the new version. I hope that this is going to be fixed. And yes, I know that there are 800+ Servers. This was just an example.
  8. Hi, I upgraded from MTA 1.0.5 to 1.1.1 yesterday and have a little problem now. Or let's say a big one. When I go to the server list ( Server Browser ) the servers start to disappear after some seconds. So it shows for example Servers: 195 , 5 seconds later Servers: 50 . And then they are all gone. What is the problem? I have re-installed MTA already but it did not change anything.
  9. So if I want to do an action on the player, which is clientsided, the command has to be clientsided as well? (For example a command that shows a GUI to a player [This function is client sided only if I am right] ? )
  10. Ehm well, I have been playing MTA for a while now, and yes, I wanted to start real scripting (not only additions for maps) a while ago, but I never really meant it serious. But now, after 1.1 was released I am totally thrilled of MTA again, and I don't really want to go back to Scripting for SA:MP, what I did before. I know that you script in Lua for MTA, and that there is a difference between client and server sided scripts. But there are some questions I got: 1. Are there any tutorials about creating gamemodes (including the creation of commands if possible [Also, Admin Commands?]) 2. I saw that you can create commands client and server sided. That confuses me a bit, in which cases do you create them server sided and in which are they client sided? 3. The Admin System is handled by a default script if I am not mistaken. Can I somehow add different Admin Levels there? 4. Should I try to change a default gamemode or give it a shot and try to create an own one? ( I did read the tutorial on creating gamemodes on the wiki but I would like to have everything explained step by step and I did still not totally understand the difference between the client and server sided scripts. ) Thanks in advance.
  11. Ah I see. I came across this function already but now I also know what it exactly does (it's pretty obvious though). Thanks for the help!
  12. Ok thanks again for the moment. But a stupid question; Since the GUI is client sided [i guess the function that is called if a player selects a gui element is also client sided (?)] and "setPlayerTeam" is server sided, this won't really work or?
  13. Ok I found the team functions. Thanks for that. But well, I want to display a gui when a player connects, so that they can choose their class. And if I'm not wrong than a gui can only be used client sided.
  14. Hello, I wanted to give MTA a try and created my first little gamemode. Since I came from SA:MP [is it allowed to mention it here?] I am kind of lost. I did get the script working but some things totally confuse me. _____________________________________________________________ Informations: meta.xml <meta> <info author="Giovanni" description="Deathmatch" /> <script src="ldm.lua" /> <script src="client.lua" type="client" /> <map src="broph.map" /> </meta> _____________________________________________________________ 1. Combining Client and Server sided scripts? I know that some functions only work when they are server / client sided. But can I somehow combine them, or call a client sided function from a server sided script for example? I got this: client.lua addEventHandler("onPlayerJoin", root, function() outputChatBox("#FF4444Welcome to my awesome Server!"); end ) I know that "onPlayerJoin" doesn't work if it is client sided, but how could I do this then? Would "onClientResourceStart" come close to what I want in this case? 2. Adding player classes? I was searching for a function like "AddPlayerClass" or something like that, but obviously, I wasn't successful, otherwise I would not post here. What are the class functions? Like AddPlayerClass, SetPlayerTeam or so? Thanks in advance!
  15. Aww is it really so obviously? Lol, so in my case I don't want the pickup to be created at the player's position. I just need to put the X, Y and Z positions here (instead of posX, posY...) ? : createMyPickup(posX, posY, posZ)
  16. Hello, I want to create a little function, that can be called by another function. I really don't know if this what I am doing is even possible but I wanna give it a try. So I mean it like this: function myfunc(Float:x,Float:y,Float:z) createPickup(Float:x,Float:y,Float:z); end And then it shall be called by another function: function mainfunc() myfunc(MyPosX,MyPosY,MyPosZ); end addEventHandler ( "onClientResourceStart", getResourceRootElement(getThisResource()), mainfuncl) I do know that there are more parameters for createPickup but this is just an example. Anyway: Question #1: How do I implent Float's ? If I try it on this way then my editor gives out an error. That error doesn't really help me. Question #2: Is it even possible to use one function in a other function? If not, then how can I do this? Thanks.
  17. Hello, lately I noticed something weird going on with my MTA. When I was working with the built - in Map Editor for let's say 30-60 minutes my computer suddenly shut down. This happened 3-4 times already. But when I am playing for let's say the same time nothing happens. Also, this happens to me in MTA only. So I don't think that the problem is related to my computer. MTA Version: MTA 1.0.5 Thanks
  18. try this: function startObj() txd = engineLoadTXD ( "kugel.txd" ) engineImportTXD ( txd, 3504 ) col = engineLoadCOL ( "kugel.col" ) dff = engineLoadDFF ( "kugel.dff", 0 ) engineReplaceCOL ( col, 3504) engineReplaceModel ( dff, 3504 ) engineSetModelLODDistance(3504, 2000) end setTimer ( startObj, 1000, 1) This doesn't work. The object is visible, but 1) it's not solid and 2) the texture is still not on it
  19. function replaceCar() txd = engineLoadTXD ( "kugel.txd", 3504 ) engineImportTXD ( txd, 3504) dff = engineLoadDFF ( "kugel.dff", 3504) engineReplaceModel ( dff, 3504) col = engineLoadCOL('kugel.col') engineReplaceCOL(col, 3504) end addEventHandler ( "onClientResourceStart", getResourceRootElement(getThisResource()), replaceCar) That's my client.lua. The object is the new one and called "kugel" now.
  20. I re-created my object and did all the steps shown in the tutorial (your first link). Thanks for it but I still have the exactly same problem as written above. The objects are working fine but the textures aren't shown....
  21. Right, forgot about this. Here is my meta.xml file. <meta> <script src="client.lua" type="client" /> <script src="server.lua" type="server" /> <file src="ball.dff" /> <file src="ball.col" /> <file src="ball.txd" /> <info gamemodes="race" type="map" name="*****" author="*****" version="*****" /> <map src="*****.map" dimension="0" /> <settings> <setting name="#minplayers" value="[ 0 ]" /> <setting name="#maxplayers" value="[ 128 ]" /> <setting name="#gravity" value="[ 0.008000 ]" /> <setting name="#weather" value="[ 0 ]" /> <setting name="#time" value="12:0" /> <setting name="#locked_time" value="[ false ]" /> <setting name="#waveheight" value="[ 0 ]" /> <setting name="#gamespeed" value="[ 1 ]" /> </settings> </meta> I checked the script again and there are everywhere the same IDs so it should actually work no?
  22. Hello, I just created my object in 3DS Max for my own map and tested it. Everything works nice but the textures aren't applied for the object. (( may look like ballZ but lol .... )) Anyway, I really can't get this working. The objects are solid, and that works nice but the textures aren't shown as you can see. How I created the object: 1. Exporting the DFF without the "GTA COL Surface" ; with the normal texture 2. Putting the GTA COL Surface on the Object and exporting it as COL I created a TXD file, if you want you can download it here: http://solidfiles.com/d/a3e6d/ Here is the script I used: function replaceCar() txd = engineLoadTXD ( "ball.txd", [objectid] ) engineImportTXD ( txd, [objectid]) dff = engineLoadDFF ( "ball.dff", [objectid]) engineReplaceModel ( dff, [objectid]) col = engineLoadCOL('ball.col') engineReplaceCOL(col, [objectid]) end addEventHandler ( "onClientResourceStart", getResourceRootElement(getThisResource()), replaceCar) Thanks for your help
  23. Oh, I kind of knew that I made a mistake. Anyway I got this working now. Thanks for your support. I found another error i put into this code. You can lock this topic now. Thanks.
  24. if it is server-side, why are you using onClientResourceStart, which is client-side event? as for XML — your syntax is totally wrong: https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Water Well that was failure #1. I fixed it now but it still doesn't work.
