i'll make my opinion when if it comes out i think it will..but surely people doubted mta before? Out of interest, if you can add boats and sync them....why aren't they in it already? the other things he's done he probably don't wanan show us if there 'secret' features, plus it means if they go horribly wrong he doesn't have to pretend they never existed cuz as far as we know they didn't! i reckon the things he has said he's done are already done/practically done. in other games tho don't it say so and so killed himself or comited suicide tho? i like it myself...although if there is 96 people o na server i can see it getting annoying..

i'm not sure if this is what MrBump said but i had an idea before but never tried it i know winamp can save live streams pretty sure it can do it to mp3, start saving a stream to mp3 and have that as the only mp3 in the mp3 folder then play vc, mite work or does winamp lock the file its writing so only it can open it if it can open it i can't see why it wouldn't work! unless it records the lengths of the mp2's at startup so it keeps count of hte time of all of them to make it seem like a radio...not sure if any of that makes sence...hrmm New idea just popped into my head does anyone have winamp plugin experiance? probably be easier to make a mod that when the radio is on plays winamp, and when you get out of a car stops it and each radio station could link to a different file/stream in winamp like have the radio all the way down, it could belike a remote for winamp? i know there used to be a ocx for vb for these things but it would be cool if it could be put intot mta somehow,.. *wonders if any of that made sence*

Umb, is it just me or is 16kb/s slower than 56k upload speed? i'm sure 56 k is 33... Would that be anything to do with it or is it just a typo?

in Short..get Cable if u can!!!! since this thread started, i was on 56k, i now have adsl 576/288 and fair enough it always seems to get the max speed provided whoever else i'm doing/uploading has a connection the same or faster, although ya i said before i used cable i think it was only like 600 k at least i dunno was a few years ago i know here cable is usually either 150k, 300, 600k with ntl anywho anyway ya adsl sucks well its good but like my connection ALWAYS Gets dropped well like not all the time but it seems to be when i'm about to do something like play a game it seems to get dropped yet i go out, i leave it on, and it stays on for like 3 days , typical init alrite i find i been hacked to death but still!!!! tis cheap tho i'm paying £22.50 a month with 50mb of webspace with all the mod cons all that cgi php whatever the hell it is, consdiering i was like paying £15 a month for 56 with 10mb webspace which could just about handle html

umb, did i miss something, i thought he said the MOTD does not go away at all + where did he say the os? in my opinion it sounds like its not connecting properly...i think thats why you think the lag isn't at your end, thegame doesn't really lag, just other people move slowly if you are or jerkty, i am right aren't i?? does an ything show up with the motd? like is it from the server or does it just show up blank? i can't help at all but i'm pondering if i can help find out what it is, although it really sounds like connectino problems to me

hrmm, if you've never done this before and never used setup anything, i'd recommened making sure you right down everything you think may be important many times i've reformatted peoples computers for them, and then they say, good boy stead, now get it on the internet, and i say, Ok, whats the phonenumber nas password or network settings, and they say, But Stead, your the computer genious how should i know? so to get on the internet, if you don't have dial up, make sure you have either a cd from your isp, or download the dialer or whatever your isp uses and put it on cd/floppy and if you really want to be safe download your modem drivers too, that way you'll have whatever you need to get on the internet and downloaed whatever else you'll need, hope i don't sound to patronising, its just i've forgotten numerous times to write down network settings/get drivers first!

From what i can tell, all speedometors hacks/mods/whateveryoucall it would use the sames bits n bobs. and from what i've read unles mta wanted to make there own speed-o-meter then they could easily change this to allow them (not saying they should) but i'm sure i remember unlress i dreamed it that gtat was a swear word in mta? i'm getting a feeling of bad sportsmanship myself One thing i've wondered is if MTA and Yamm didn't join up would mta be worse off now? would Yamm of released a mod by now, and whatever happebened to that ggm one? lost the url for that, always liked it simplicity tho

Heres my unwanted opinion I think that registering names would be annoying, like with hotmail n stuff u'd just end up with lots of supercool69 and then supercool2003 etc Also, How do you prove someone is taking your name? If you did have a nick registar, how would you stop people from registring loads of names? another thing with hotmail, i've noticed people i knwo think of a few address, then get them so no one else can, so some people have 100 they want, but because of theres 99 peple have to choose someting else The only way i can see to get around this problem si to stop naming people alltogther, or assign names when you join of ingame charecters, then u can't steal a name, and no one can hold i t against you, although its nice eto have a name hrmm,hers a thought tho, registered names could be a different colour, so if someone used the name SuperCool if they register it it could be i dunno Green, but if the name isn't then it could be Yellow? lets people use whatever name they choose! and may help? i dunno

I just read this whole thread and couldn't help but grin a little, but in my humble opinion, no i'm not a grahpics expert, nor experianced computer techinican, although i do know, that my budget radeon 9200 does an amazing job with vc, alrite i can't put up anti alaising and what not to full and still be playable, but i think thats more cuz my computer is outdated and there is a reason games use a lower refresh rate, its not just radeon cards, all cards do it, although i don't think it really applies anymore since most monitors support high refresh rates, i can only put my monitors up to 72 but thats because i'm cheap and don't see the point in buying a ferrari to drive to work in whilst my normal and efficant car does a much better job for less! i think i'm a little off topic here, but just because someone has years of experiance dosen't mean they know what there on about, many times i've bought stuff, not just for computers or cars, and i know what i want, but they try to convince me i don't know what i want, but what i infact what is what they would buy Whilst i'm going off on one, how is this improving the 'outdated' vc engine? i think bloker stated earlier that the only reason the graphics lok better is because u force the use of smoothing with the video card, which will often make game feel laggy (soz for this negative attiute, but i must admit i thought bloker was right with that thing about human eye, although i thought it was 30, i think i 've just been reading all the argumentative posts and finally had to post one )

What i think would be cool and possible possibly? is to have 2 - 4 players each use a control pad, and made a mode similar to micro machines, u know u race around and the looser who gets pushed off the screen looses or something i know gta3 has top down view, alrite it'll probably be really unplayable and a bit daft, but would be pretty cool if it could be done (from the impressed that that could be done kinda view:p)

In regards to the don't say you can do it until its been proving it can work, Windows Server Family, and other os servers are desiened to be able to run to an extent maintance free, that doesn't mean microsoft design and make windows server 2003, then test it for 10 years, they just test it a little, and based on whats been done so far they can predict how it will work. But i can't see how once you've gotten more than 2 plauers working getting a billion isn't much difference, As a programmer, once you have the intial thing, i find its usually quite easy to modify it, for example to get 2 connected and working, this would be easy (i'm not saying it is, but then once you managed to get three working, it gives you an idea of how many can be working, if he says it'll work, belive him, then if it doesn't then bitch and flame ) at the moment all the complaints about GTAt may just make him stop working all together, yes then you can say well it was never going to be realised in short i'm fed up with people bitching because they don't like something, i personally am not a big fan of fords, doesn't mean i start trying to convince people there cars all suck, they don't, i'm just not a fan of them same again with os debates, ok linux is free, windows isn't, but in all fairness, say all OS's were free, or better still say windows was free and linux wasn't, would you still run linux and bitch about windows then? i'm sure i've gotten completly off topic here, Although i must admit, i prefer not to tell people features of a program i write without having proof, although sometimes its nessicary to do this to keep people interested. I'm curious here, a lot of people seem to be being disconnected with fast connections, however i have played quite a few times, and never once been disconnected unless i got disconnected by my isp or i clicked disconnect by accident, could it be that the connectiosn are too fast? sounds crazy but prahaps its sending out data to fast or something? *shrugs* and i doubt its your processor but you never know, but its worked fine with me with PIII800 256mb PC800 56k software modem at that g450/TNT2/Radeon9200 as u can see my specs arnt' amazing, but only people with fast connections have had the disconnection problem? also in game i recive stupid insane ping numbers, like 9999, 72467, -300 etc, but seems to work fine now and then my computer overheats playing gta, as i have a cheap coolmaster heatsink which in all fairness i'm never gonna buy one again, my default intel one kept it so much cooler, but the fan broke Oh and if anyone is using an Intel chipset motherboard (this doesn't mean if you have an intel cpu you have an intel chipset) and sometimes feel gta is slow at loading, download the Intel Application Accelerator, doesn't seem to make much difference in XP haven't tried 9x, but in 2000 it speeds up the harddrive greatly, causing gta to be much smoother loading Also i've noticed MTA works fine with BlackICE firewall -Edit About that delay thing, could you make it so if you type in a new server the delay gets reset, because it is a bit annoying trying different servers and you haveto wait 10 seconds between each one, for the same server i think its understandable and a good idea tho

no, i meant on the g450 card it wasn't there at all, its there now on that temporary card i had, and its there to on the new one, but yea, have to look down to read the text usually, today i played vc for the first time in 1024*768 *32 and it looks dam amazing

what? thats crazy, just look at mta vc its improved a hell of a lot over gta3 0.3b or whatever, it'll be a similar size to vc, even less as the net code will be the same, so really it would only be like a list of memory addres that would be different, can't see it being more than a 100k or so bigger? a 1mb at the most to ahve the both in one, it would actually save time, because people who have both can save like 20k downloading them together (all incredibly rough estimates )

I was just a cop, and i thought how cool would it be if i could press a button and the cop soudn saying Freeze would come up In SP police and other gangs say things when you go close? at least ithink they all do so if you could have the police for example say things, press F1 and it would say "freeze" i've forgotten what they are since i an't played sp in aaaaages, also if you could do the same with the cop car, or all the cars but make the cop car into a normal car, i mean with the radio then F1-F4 in car would send that to all the same cars regardless of who is driving, so if there are 4 cop cars 3 cops in 3 and then 1 robber has the other the robber would still hear it just like in real life, in car could be, man down, or all units to report in, or something like that, or units relocate to, then have a pager pop up with the destination? or show it in the chat box the car thing may be a bit far, but ithink the other taunts would be cool
