  1. There's not as many cheaters as it may appear. Lag and bad FPS and Glitching all cause things to not appear as they actually are. It may look like you shot someone, when in actuality your shot may have been off to the side a bit. Don't get too discouraged. There are more non-cheaters then there are cheaters. So do I. See the above for information about people not dying when you shoot them. Speed hacks are usually pretty obvious, but that too, could be lag. Super Jump.. No idea what you're referring to there, unless you mean Jetpacking. That's also pretty obvious and yes, that's a cheat. Car Spawning is 90% NOT a hack, but rather a desynched car that's on their screen but not on yours. I don't know of any hacks that just create cars out of thin air. I'm sure their out there somewhere, but it's more likely just a desynched car. All of the above usually.. It's normally those who haven't taken the time to learn how to play and need a hack to "do well". It's just a basic insecurity. Very childish, as I think most veterans will agree. Cheaters usually have no self-pride or any sort of semblance of "fair play". They get their rocks off by spoiling others' games. Amen! The Official Servers are Admined pretty tight, as are the Partyservers. Those are the only servers I go to, along with the VCA server (GTA III). Stick with these 5 servers and usually you'll have a pretty good time. There are a few that get by, but more often then not, they get caught and summarily executed. I understand your frustration, as cheaters annoy me to no end. I have no patience with them. Take heart in the fact that even though there are the occasional cheaters, there's more non-cheaters out there.
  2. We haven't had a match for a while, mostly because of Real Life things going on (On my end at least). Bump's Internet is down, so he's out of circulation for now. I'm usually on the Officials if there's anyone around and Partyserver if there's not. I haven't seen Firefox for a few days, so I'm not sure where he is. You can just get ahold of me through Yahoo Messenger.. I thought I gave that to you?
  3. Boy... I feel so behind.. =) Ya know folks, you can send me a PM here on the forums and I'm more likely to get it. I'm not inactive by any sense of the word, nor am I dead. If something's up send me a PM so I can know about it =) Also, on that little VCA site, Bump, that e-mail is no longer active for me. I'll PM you my current one.
  4. I've been around MTA since pretty early on in the project and I've never seen that before. Where did this come from? I like it, but I have no clue where it came from
  5. I don't quite grasp what he's going after here... Is he wondering why people glitch or is he complaining about people who glitch? Is he claiming that glitching is destroying the game? If so, I'd have to agree.. If that's not what he's saying then I'm at a bit of a loss. I still don't understand the mentality behind intentionally abusing glitches. Do people just like to cheat so badly that they'll do anything to win? I never glitch intentionally (And yes, there is a difference between intentional glitching and accidental) and I seem to do pretty well. I might die more often, but that only motivates me to do more killing =) Normally the only glitch that comes from me is the "shoot from the boot" thing. Though on instinct of jumping out of the way of someone shooting me I might have thrown a grenade I didn't see =) Anyay, not to go into too much detail, but to summarize: You don't have to glitch to do good in MTA. I have noticed that quite often, the only people who manage to beat me repeatedly on a server are the glitchers. Heavy laggers take a strong second place, though normally I can eventually find their lead and get my licks in. Those who don't glitch often end up dead at my feet. That has to say something for not glitching. Or does it say something pro-glitchish (Is that a word?)? I'm certainly not the best, but I've been around a while and can usually hold my own fairly well.

    Roleplayers

The problem is... Hrm.. how to phrase this... Let's say you play DAOC, and you've been Roleplaying on Nimue for years. Head on over to a NON-RP server and try the same thing, people are going to completely miss the point or worse still, mock you for doing so. There's so few people who actually have a clue as to how to Roleplay that you've got more killers then Roleplayers and killers have no time nor patience for Roleplayers. MMORPG's are one of the best places to RP, though I agree, they are limiting in their own ways.. If you want true Free role playing, I suggest an IRC channel called #BlkDragon*Inn... I was an addict to that room for years. It's gone down the path of cheese (last I saw anyway) so it might not be the best place, but it's a place to start. I think they're on irc.sorcery.net now

    Roleplayers

The only problem is that MTA is a horrible arena for Roleplay. At least as I define it, anyway. Sure you can play a cop all you like, but all you can do is kill someone or beat them down with your nightstick. You can be a robber, but there's nothing to take. What purpose is it to be a vigilante VCC if all you can really do is kill someone else? I won't even get into the uselessness of a Sailor aside from their keen fashion sense! The closest thing I've seen so far as a Roleplaying script would be Panther's server running DJ-Mills script on it (THere's a topic around here somewhere "DJ-mills server closing down" that has the IP in it). Now this allows robbers to rob and cops to be police. You can sell and scrap cars for money which can then be used to buy houses. However, this is where it ends.. THere's no real REASON to buy a business or own a house. THere's no way to tell if someone is on your property for you to !fine them and get money from them. If they would enhance this already impressive script with some functionality to the businesses, it would be far better and give MTA more of an MMO feel to it, which I think is what you're looking for. Persistant worlds of MMO's are MUCH MUCH better platforms for Roleplay, and this script is a step in that direction, but they need to enhance it further. I have some ideas, but I don't quite know who to contact about the actual code for it (Which I do not know how to write). If someone out there that codes for this script is reading this, drop me a PM or something. And before you ask, no, they won't give it to you EDIT: I found the server in a DJ-DAN post... 213.230.209.159:2008
  8. I don't know where you get the idea that there's some kind of phenominal delay. You talk as if it's virtually impossible to hit someone, when it isn't. I've been moving away from the Robber a bit lately and working with the SS more, primarily for the reason stated above. I'm tired of the jumping glitchy stubby wars, they just get old and boring. Perhaps Blue will have those glitches taken out and it can get back to some measure of talent rather then who can glitch with the stubby. Anyway, back on topic... The aiming is vastly improved in .4 then in previous revisions. Straight fire weapons are far more useful then they used to be. I don't know if the delay thing your talking about is those momentary pauses while firing a rapid fire weapon that seem to be in there, but that's the only delay thing I've found. As with any other online shoot-em-up, you have to lead your opponent a bit and follow their movement. When you catch them, you know it. MTA isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn good for what it is. As for the skin problem you stated... Usually the radar is correct unless you just came back from a crash, in which case it shows them as a yellow blip. This problem is resolved after they die and respawn however. Use the radar as a quick referance to what class they are. I don't see many skin display problems these days, and since I rarely play on any team that not goverened by Nicks (Which are 100% reliable vs. skins, which are not) perhaps I just don't notice it. Common sense can prevail in the situation you mentioned (The skin going wonky when you play as a cop in cops and robbers). If that guy just came up and started blasting the same robber you are, odds are he's on your side.. Don't shoot him =) Spawning crashes happen mostly with the robber (Which continues to strike me as ironic ) and often only on servers that are packed to the gills and where there's 5 or 6 people having a lame ass spwanwar. Less players usually means less likelihood of a crash. You don't have to be a robber to fight, you just have to be a bit more strategic with the other classes. MTA GTA III taught me that, and it doesn't have classes.. Use the terrain to your advantage, be sneaky =)
  9. Hrm... So let me see here... GTA III is quite an ancient game in PC terms.. Yet here we are in MTA, playing it... Vice City, not quite so ancient, but still with MTA people are going out to BUY the game so they can play Multiplayer.. There's litterally HUNDREDS of people playing MTA right now, this very second.. And yet there's been plenty of new games released and yet people are still here... Playing Vice City with MTA... Most of these people (Myself included) haven't TOUCHED VC OR GTAIII in Single Player since having found MTA... Regardless of how good or not good Blue turns out (I won't pass a judgement till I play the thing) I'm willing to bet people are still going to go out and buy VC to play Multiplayer, and that people will still play this MTA after the glow has waned from San Andreas and even will continue to play MTA after you have deemed it "redundant" MTA is a great creation, and it's improving all the time. You seem to dismiss it, regardless of your praises of it.
  10. Speaking as one who does more fighting then racing or destruction derbying or anything like that I'd have to say pulling those cars out is just fine. It allowed for more cars scattered throughout the map as well as more VARIETY of cars. Though I'm still wondering where my Blista Compact is in Deathmatch. It's good to have more cars out in the map where people fight rather then 8 cars cooped up inside a stadium ring that noone ever goes to. There are more fighters then there are racers or derbiers (Is that a word?) so they should of course cater to the majority. While I agree that the Ocean Beach side of Vice City is rarely used, I think that the relative spread of cars has vastly improved. I would love to see more people over on island one, but I can understand why people tend to stick to Island two more. .1 was all over around the Malibu, .2 was sort of spread around a bit, but island one started thinning out at that point. However, there were no good cars on that side of the map for .2. .3rc2 was a decent spread, though still island one suffered from lack of cars or at the very least, they were all packed together in clumps (Washington Beach PD, Watertower Parking Lot). I think the spread of cars is just fine, though there still seems to be a heavy proportion of people on island two instead of one. I don't know if there's a way to resolve this issue without giving Robbers a random spawn similar to the Police or VCC. The most abused class in VC will of course draw folks to gather in those areas, so whereever the Robber is, that's where the primary fighting will be. I'm not upset about the Racer going away, it was useless. The SS is a far better "class" to have in there then the racer, and it DOES balance out the car spread. Whereas the Racer would spawn near *11* cars, the SS only has 3 and a weapon pickup now. Spread those cars around and you've got balance. All's well with the removal of the Racer and most of the cars in that area.
  11. Duh.. That's why it's a movie.. Guess what, those are fake too =) I love the whole phone plugging in modem thing.... "shall.. we... play a ... game?"
  12. Because if I wasn't how else could I embrace the awesome untapped power of Cheezy Techno... Or how could I enjoy such shows as Mystery Science Theatre 3000... Or how could I revel in a world where everything is so damn serious all the time and not go insane? Embrace the Cheeze... it's good for you! Edit: P.S. You call me cheesy and yet YOU are the one quoting Monty Python in your Location... Aren't ya? HA! and DOUBLE HA!
  13. You can't have Firefox... VCA already has him... BACK.. BACK I SAY! He's ours!
  14. Just sort of an off-the-cuff, wacky, cooky kind of question for ya here... Why the hell bother playing Single Player at all if you don't want to earn all the rewards? What's the point? Where's the effort? Where's the challenge?
  15. I tried setting up a Radio Station on KFC's Teamspeak server for a while and nobody appricated the glory, majesty and power that is Cheezy Techno! * sniffles * I felt so rejected... * runs off sobbing into his pile of Cheezy mp3's *
  16. Police Car.. Sturdy, sure footed and you get cool siren noises Sentinal... Not the Mafia version, just the plain Sentinal (Preferably the bright yellow one ) Stinger is good too, I'm sort of torn between the Stinger and the Patriot for 3rd place. Banshee has a steady 4th, Infernus is WAY down near the bottom (Handles like crap) * wanders back to work *
  17. I have a question regarding the rules for Turfwars... I may be misreading them, but hopefully that's where I'll get some clarification. I belive it says that you must challenge a turf owned by another gang, but so far there's only HQ's... Wouldn't this make the first match lost be the match you lost your HQ in? Is there a benefit to having two turfs connected to one another? Is there any benefit to having more then one turf at all? Perhaps as an idea to make claiming turf more valuable, give a bonus of some kind, some how? Like lock the car doors in that turf for anyone except your gang? Make the pickups only pickupable by your gang in a turf you own or in unclaimed turf? (That sounds confusing, it's time to go home, I'll try and clarify and make myself clearer at home...) Maybe I'm thinking too deeply about it, but it seems like it would start off with at least one HQ being gobbled up per match until someone wins 2 in a row. I'm at work right now, so I don't want to risk digging into too many sites that are technically against policy to view
  18. On the subject of the Official Servers... Perhaps someone can explain why they seem empty all the time? I haven't taken a look through ASE to see exactly how many people are out there playing on other servers and all, but the Officials are always empty. They used to be the best place to play because they were usually very full, people would be stuck waiting in line to get into them and now it's like a ghost town. Can someone elighten me?

    MTArc Thread.

Sounds can be sent through MIRC with the /sound command.. If a team wants to use sounds, can't they just connect to the same room, a private invite only room if need be and then your script can send the sounds through MIRC at them? I'm in no way a coder or programmer, no clue how it would be done, but if the ability already exists in a commonly used program, why not take advantage of it?
  22. Note to self.... Read Gang Thread more often.... I love this idea! When do we start thrashing the competition Bump?
