  1. 4? * ponders * You, myself, Firefox.. OH! Marcel! Duh! Hey! Do we get to claim the title of Oldest and Smallest MTA gang yet? How about most continuous memberlist?
  2. Excessive is a relative term, and if I've gotten the "illegal" weapon by means other then direct choice (i.e. GTA or Killing someone with one) how can I be held responsible for the "excesiveness"? Not my fault I killed the guy with the flamer 17 times and haven't crashed / died yet.. I've got quite a stockpile of ammo now.. (I think it would be around 255 if I never used the flamer in a fight) Do we see the logic I'm getting at here? I fully agree on the stance on Carkilling, and Kung's rejection of "Leave us alone while we fight!" (If you're in game, you're a target [tm]). But there is no effective way to police the weapons in the game. And as a side note, I generally don't spawn with the Flamer or even particularly use it much unless I've got a lagger I'm against somewhere. I prefer my dandy little AK47 and a decent supply of Uzi ammo So I'm not so much pro-flamer as I am anti-silly-unenforceable-rules * points to MP5's Inbox *
  3. I'm going to try and avoid pointing direct fingers.. But I've seen at least 3 different gang's members gripe about it.. And an "entire" gang creating a server and applying that rule along with a No Carkills rule. They know who they are. It's a pity too, it's a nice ping server. There will always be complainers, I've come to accept that and server admins can run their servers as they choose, but when I've seen it on a few different servers now (The complaining and crying of "noob", not the rule) I'm worried it's going to become an epidemic.. Which I don't want to see happen. I've already had to give up on VC till things are fixed, I don't want to lose GTA III also. I dont' know what alias you're under and I won't be stupid enough to ask you out loud on here, just to save your anonimity, but you've seen it then. So you are aware of the situation, and perhaps even who the culprits are. Perhaps you're there more then I, does it look like it's spreading? And yes, I'm an admin on there too (Thank you) but I'm still slowly piecing together who's cheating and what to look for, whiners are annoying and I've been known to start up a !votekick on it to let the server decide so you won't get crys of "Admin abuse" in your ear. And "Welcome to MTA!" is my line, no fair stealing it And I've also got a [tm] on "There are no teams unless you make them up yourself" on VC servers And on the subject of teams.. Do people not realize that SSV is a team based system? Gah.. I hate seeing Yakuza spawn wars. * procedes to the next quote * I had thought that, but I belive I was told early on in Portland's release that it was a choice made to leave the insta-kill in, as it could have been turned off. It's still cheap shit though when that's all you do, like I said, everyone more or less agrees on that. ESPECIALLY in Shoreside, it's just plain silly. Money is SO easy to come by, WHY be a chronic car killer unless you're just out to be an asshole? I can get 2 full clips of Uzi, a pack of shotgun shells and a flamethrower to match my AK in less then 5 minutes from spawning, this isn't rocket science folks! The only way I could think to balance the flamer (if it seems to need it) is make it a non-choice for spawning with, and have it only purchaseable instead, like in Portland. Or perhaps leave it as it is and lower the ammo, since the damage can't be adjusted. Personally, I don't think it really NEEDS adjustment. Yes, it's dangerous, but what does one expect a ball of flaming gas to be? I don't really have a response for you, Mike, but I didn't want you to feel left out of the quote-lovin' Borrow from my quote for trx, it's along the same lines
  4. I continue to be amazed by the stupidity of some wings of the MTA community. When VC .2 was released, in came the Stubby Shotgun and it's been downgraded, complained about and griped over. Not about the weapon persay so much as about the glitching with it. When Portland was first released, they left in the insta-kill with cars, and carn00bing was born. So be it, whatever, everyone pretty much agrees that that's more or less lame ass play to do nothing but car kill. So be it... I'm starting to see a new plague entering into Shoreside Vale servers (Or perhaps it's all GTA III servers, I don't know, I mostly play Shoreside) the instant a flamethrower comes out, people start yelling noob and complaining. Some servers are even threatening to kick or ban for having one. While this in and of itself is a silly rule, let's look at a little bigger picture, shall we? There are *2* instances in which I could get a flamethrower without BUYING one or SPAWNING with one (Buying and Spawning with them may violate this silly "No flamers" rule, so I don't do it) BUT... Let's look at the other two ways that are OUTSIDE my control to get a Flamethrower... 1) Someone else comes in and buys or spawns with one.. *I* certainly didn't violate their rule, yet I can kill them and get a Flamer that way 2) Grand Theft Auto misions.. I have NO control whatsoever over what reward weapon that mission drops for me, do I? There's way #2 I can get a flamer without buying or spawning with it. Am I just supposed to ignore my reward and leave all that money lying there for fear of accidentally stumbling over the Flamer pickup? I think not How can anyone enforce this no flamers rule? When I was asked and presented reasons, I was told "Wanna bet? I will ban you" in essence. A rule against Car Killing, I can understand, a rule against flamers is just silly. Since a majority of the GTA III population seems to rely on the shotgun, is it not understandable if the OTHER close range weapon shows up? If I have a flamer in my inventory by way of one of the above 2 methods, am I supposed to very carefully scroll past that while I've got some shotgunner bouncing around me like a ninny, perhaps miss a shot and get killed so that I don't violate this rediculous rule? First it was the Stubby (I've heard more arguments on this then I would care to count), then car killing (Which I actually agree with and IS enforceable, everybody can spot a chronic car killer from a mile away, their actions are always the same), now Flamethrowers... I've heard it said before, but it bears repeating.. "Next thing ya know we'll be spawning with nothing but a bat and a colt!" If you don't like the flamethrower, perhaps you should stay out of close range? Or is your reliance on sole use of the shotgun so overpowering that you have no clue on how to use the other weapons effectively? It's a weapon in the game, I say it's perfectly legit.. It has some dangerous potential, but then again, so does the shotgun you're bouncing around me with.. So should I start trying to get the rules passed that say "No shotguns!" in the various servers I visit? Until they have some way of being able to switch off and on what weapons are available in the game, this rule is nonsense Yes, I'm talking about YOU and you know who you are (The lot of you)
  5. hmm? thats awesome No, you need smacked Trust me.. I'm older then you
  6. Hrm... Dunno, to be honest... It seems that the three maps are each designed with their own "theme" or "flavor". You have Portland, lots of weapon pickups, turismo and such... Then Staunton, less weapon pickups, but easier to get money (via the stunts) and still able to get paid by clobbering the opposition. SSV is a team-based game system (despite what the majority seem to think) with virutually NO weapon pickups (that I've seen anyway) and great amounts of ease at getting money, which can then be used to buy the weapons you weren't able to pick up off the street. They each have they're own play style. I'd like to see more features like missions and such on the other islands, but as trx said, they just didn't have time and now they're trying to fix Vice City. Continue making future MTA revisions more like SSV and hammer out the problems with Vice City and you'll be golden =)
  7. Just went to that "Bang Bang" link in your sig... Remind me to smack you later
  8. I find that there's plenty of balance in SSV... If this new release makes Vice City more / identical to the way SSV feels and plays, then it's going to be awesome. No, I'm not talking about physics and driving and all that, but as in the game play... Will there be missions available in .5.1 VC as in SSV?
  9. wow that has to be some kind of violation on your privacy, I wouldn't feel comfortable about security thugs reading my e-mail It's the school's machine and the school's connectivity, they have every right to scan and check e-mail. The internet is NEVER truly private, don't be fooled into thinking it is
  10. With the current situation, can you imagine the problems if it was screwed up like the Stubby? =)
  11. Crouching does appear to be disabled while firing (At least from what I've seen and messed with) Basically, it forces you to stand up when you shoot. Jumping with the stubby removed.. Ok.. Um.. Ok I guess Everyone's favorite glitch from the end of .4.1 is back and better then ever.. I've been watching 5 robbers do this constant for the past hour. Even the glitchers are saying it's rediculous Removal of running with Grenades, not a problem really, throwing the grenades now just feels different and you have to get to another weapon to move away quickly * goes back to GTA III till the patch comes to either remove robber or remove the stubby * Despite all this problem with the Stubby, the rest of the additions are good. GTA III is awesome now, though I'd love to see Shoreside Vale type stuff in Staunton Island (But I suppose I'm not the only one, nor the first to say it) I even spent a little time on a stunt server until I saw a Heli noob killing folks and a speed hacked Infernus zooming by me.

    Multi Theft Auto 0.5

Diabling jumping with the stubby? Have you synched up Crouching then? Doesn't this encourage glitching? Glitchers don't jump, they crouch and break the animations that way. Not jumping with Grenades is ok I suppose, one way to stop that particular glitch, though it also leaves behind the crouch glitch issue. Everything else looks great though, nice improvements and additions. I'll just have to wait and see if this no-jump thing works out.
  13. I used to use the stubby constantly, and I still do when I need a vent of some kind, but I've moved on and graduated up to the SS now. I think it's a pretty well balanced class. I still use a shotgun on occasion, but me spawning as a robber is semi-rare due to a few things: 1) Spawn-crashes 2) Spawn-wars and 3) Glitchers.. I prefer getting out the robber area as fast as possible because I find spawn wars tedious and boring (Not to mention crashing alot). I've found that I can keep fairly good pace with the lead number of kills by being SS or Mexican (Been fiddling with it from time to time also) and avoiding the spawn war all together.
  14. Wow.. 3 minute response time.. Is that a record? * smirks and departs before getting dragged further into the muck *
  15. Not to start a flame war, but I haven't seen him fight without it, so yes, it does appear that he relies on it. And yes, I do give pleasant speeches Ah, but just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. Especially something like this (Not just R33d, but others that glitch as well) that reduces the game down to dumb luck rather then needing some measure of ability. Ability, that is, in the game mechanics and mechanism, NOT ability in abuse of exploitation. And I've seen him moving and firing without pause also.. Cop Shotty specifically, M60 more frequently then with the stubby, and from time to time on the Stubby It's not just DB that's brought this up, others have mentioned it as well. He just got the ball rolling, that's all. And you know full good and well that DB responds to every post someone puts up.. He lives on this forum But that aside, I have noticed since early in KFC's existance that all the glitchers tend to go there and / or come from there first.. Pi was one of the first I saw glitching on a regular basis. Basically, I'd love to see this glitch fixed (As I'm sure many others would) and we can only hope that this is fixed either in the next revision or in Blue. I just don't get the mentality behind spending time to PRACTICE an exploit.. If this was any other game, these players would be banned in a heartbeat for exploiting, yet in MTA, nothing is done about it and folks even take the time to practice them and teach others how to operate an EXPLOIT.. I just don't understand why people don't see glitching for what it is. * raises a mug in toast * To the removal of the Stubby and the synchronization of the crouch! I'm willing to bet we'd see removal of the stubby before the crouching gets synched
  16. I've seen this guy doing this on a constant basis.. While I'm sure he's not specifically cheating (At least not that I can tell currently) he's glitching like mad.. And it's not just with the Stubby.. He does the same with any weapon he has in hand. I've got video of it too, hoping to show Kung who has said he's not pro-glitch. I've spectated and watched live both.. And spectated when he's on a cycle also, and watched as he glitched that up to wicked speed from a near dead stop. And yes, I'm well aware that you can get bikes up to blazing speeds by tapping 9 on the numpad.. This is what leads me to my theory: My theory is simply that he's wired up a controller somehow to use one button to do the crouching glitch manuvers and has it set on some kind of turbo/repeat mode (Which even old controllers had) And before KFC starts making me public enemy number one again, I'd just like to tell those who seem to hate me in that crew to bugger off.. I call them like I see them, nothing more. I've mentioned R33d's activity to ODB before also, but it has produced no results (so far as I'm aware). It is sad when someone has to glitch that much to fight, yet more often then not my opinion is simply disregarded... Meh.. Oh well.. Yet another glitch-bitch to spawn out of KFC (and probably more approriate to say, out of MTA, being as we've had this problem since I belive .3rc2 only R33d's turned it into an all encompasing "technique") Hardly a technique.. I've been wanting to kick / ban this fellow since I first spotted him, but being as he's KFC and that he's on his home server, I didn't feel it approriate. There are higher ranked admins that can do that if they wish.
  17. Did this server die out or did I just try to connect at a bad time? I just popped in and there's nobody around and no script running (that I could tell anyway)
  18. So I see a new (?) RPG server up and running early in the morning so I say "Ah! I'll go check it out". It seems to be an enhanced version of DJ-Dan's server script. All well and good, I go and make about $21k or so early on with car sales and some general thuggery.. I get a decent little bank account going then I see {SB}Yarran, a level 4 Admin, mind you, Withdraw $100000 and go cruising to Starfish Island... I decide I want his money and find him sitting in his Comet in the driveway of the mansion and being tearing his car apart.. Oh but wait! He's paused or Alt-tabbed... Wonderful... I wait a bit and he remains in this state.. Never gets around to buying anything, just paused so I can't get ahold of him and take that lovely chunk of change. Next thing I see our same little hero, Yarran is in the bank, and I'm getting PM's about my bank account being hacked (One of the advanced features of this new script, handy, but still.. Just read on). He pauses again, procedes to drain every cent I have in the bank with no recourse apparently.. So I would say don't bother going to these lamers' server.. The script is good, the Admins are hypocrites and since it's generally considered cheating to pause to avoid death all around the community, I guess they cheat too Just some Information for the masses
  19. Wouldn't a live stream, or even a pre recorded stream, gobble up a pile of bandwidth though and thus produce more lag?

    TOP FUN

I didn't do alot of RC stuff in Single Player, so I don't know how far you can take those vehicles before they were out of range. Didn't they blow up if you went to far? In a Multiplayer environment, making the player invincible at any time is a bad thing. I can already see the cries of "Cheater" then "I was flying an rc plane you *insert explitive here*". They would have to write some kind of way to be able to damage / kill the controlling PC while they're out joyriding in an RC car. Now a game mode where you only get RC cars and a random Fun Top van on the map would be fun. 10 players all in hidden vans around town, zooming RC cars around to find and blow up the other 9 players' vans.. Lovely, though I think using the entire city for such a thing would be FAR too huge.
  21. Yes, and thus why I hate it.. It's a rediculous breach of the animations and when used enough, could even be considered a cheat.. Cheat being defined as "Ability to act without risk to ones self" I think this particular exploit / glitch (whatever you want to call it) is up into the cheat range when used enough. I suppose that would depend on weather it's intentional or accidental. There are those that do it intentionally, and sometimes it just happens. This one I think would be hard to detect, though I have seen what appears to be unlimited firing a number of times. I notice you don't mention the crouch glitch, does this mean you think that one is acceptable? I don't.. And I'm sure most others don't either. I wish there was a way to get the general concensus of the community on these, a vote if you will... Define these things as Kickable, Bannable or Acceptable... But I suppose it would just end up a pissing match because those that abuse said glitches would be all upset because the only fighting style they've learned would suddenly be an offense. It's like when you disabled Robbers on your server the other night, people actually logged out because they couldn't be that abusive class. Now THAT'S funny.. There's a total of 6 classes folks... All have good potential, learn to use them =)
  22. But jumping doesn't foul the animation as the crouch glitch does.. I jump as soon as I'm able yes, How is that a glitch? You still know exactly where my character is, as opposed to the glitch I was speaking of where you aren't actually where your character is showing on my screen.. I'm not sure if that was a rebuke of my claim or if that was a confirmation of my claim =)
