  1. That's right, Virtualdub is a great program that can do a great deal more besides compression. It's a shame you can't use codecs in fraps, a modern machine is easily capable of recording directly with compression, especially if you use a lower frame rate.
  2. The DodoBomber is great fun and I found a decent flyable dodo mod as well. With both combined you can fly around bombing everything in sight for ages.It still needs a bit of skill to get flying well, but it's a lot easier than before. Anyway, too easy would be boring Have the devs any plans to include flying in a game mode? Go on, you know you want to...
  3. Comparing the ST to the spectrum is hardly fair, they were about 4 years apart, a very long time in computing. Despite that, the Spectrum remained very popular for many years after the launch of the ST & Amiga, due to it's immense range of games (and some other software) and affordability. So there
  4. Divx5 and Xvid are pretty much the best codecs available for getting a small file size. If you haven't done it already, try resizing the video when you recompress it, down to 640x480 or smaller. You should then be able to get good quality with a lower bitrate. What codec do you use for capture? HuffYUV is probably the best to use. Hope thats some help.
  5. A quick Google for "gta3 flyable dodo mod" turns up a few examples, including this bomber! from Barton Waterduck. Just going to go try it! Grrrr, you have to register to download.
  6. Boohoo , from the title I thought you were talking about bombing runs from the air, i.e Dodo bombing!. Nevermind eh. I think it's quite simple to mod the Dodo so it's more flyable, you could then use it for a variety of uses in MTA, say as a scout or bomber. Someone's probably had this idea before, but I've typed it all now so I'm going to post it!
  7. Personally, I'd be very very happy to just have a bug-free, working 'running and driving around with other people' type multiplayer. Everything else can surely wait.
  8. What do you mean? You've edited the ps2 files and burned a new disc with your changes, but the game didn't start?
  9. Someone mentioned the C64? Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k > C64, ataris, amstrad, nes and megadrive. Someone post a link to a working PS2 emulator please, I look every few months but I haven't found a working one yet. And this is stretching my memory a bit, but I seem to remember from discussion on the old (now sadly defunct) gta3forums.com boards that the code for the PS2 and PC are very similar. I think that people found mentions of multiplayer in the PS2 version even before the PC version was released. So I think online PS2 play is possible, though perhaps not any time soon.
  10. I like the idea of having two teams with two busses, this brings in tactics of deciding whether to attack or defend. To prevent boring games where both teams just sit tight and defend, you'd have to make it 1st bus to slow down is loser though, instead of a time limit. But however it's done it's sure to be good fun The only big problem seems to be the lack of space, those big coaches don't exactly turn on a dime and there's only limited lengths of straight road on the islands.
  11. CTRL + Z and CTRL + X I think, it's in the readme anyway. I'm afraid it works just the same as GGM, i.e message fades and controls still work when typing.
