got a fuck-load of crashes to start with, then i actually read the instuctions and installed the new version of directx 9, got 1 more crash a min after that, and then everything was great. (lots of maps wouldnt load on the race server, but that may have been an irrelevant bug) got the verification bug, along with everyone it seemed...

i thought /give worked in littlewhiteys? maybe im getting confused.

unfortunately, i believe the problem is exactly that. the fps does affect the speed of the game, play mta race and play on a server with lots of players, at the start of a map, watch how fast everyone starts moving, some are really slow, some a pretty fast. anyone who isnt the fast ones cant actually reach the 25 fps limit imposed. if so many are already unable to reach the limit, it would be unfair to increase it, as it would give those who can even more of a head start. if gta was designed with multiplayer in mind, it wouldnt work like this, but it does, and the mta team arnt going to rewrite the game engine now.

no, it is no-where near. however the mta team have been posting pictures of them testing it, which may have been what was confusing you. it could be many months before its out, nobody knows, so dont ask. mta race is out though.

hmm.... maybe because i got the tv 4-6 years ago? before hd. it was the only digital tv in the shop. i think there may have been hd plasma tvs around, but i wasnt going to pay £20000 for one! and its never going to be fully superseded in terestrial, there just isnt enough bandwidth, even with analog gone, only a few channels will be able to have hd.

digital isnt hd, i dont plan on a new tv for a long time, it has digital, so it will last until they stop broadcasting non-hd, which should be in many years time. but you are right about analog going soon, and hd will start about the same time. most things arnt even filmed in hd yet, so i doubt it will become the only option for at least 10 years.

Except that everyone on the team always say its amazing and make it sound finished, of course, people who waited for race have learned to take that with a pinch of salt, but new people will think its practically finished.

I had the same problem, the way i solved it was to set the game to 640x480 resolution, with 16 bit colour, graphics set to low and draw distance being fairly low. now im actually slightly faster than most (still never win though )
