  1. True, but to quote Jani at the end of SF Height. "To all those who crashed at the start, how the **** do you manage to crash in a straight line"
  2. Ransom, sorry, but you are 100% wrong. Check out this map to see how I've taken this to an extreme. Chris, if you change the ID under each spawnpoint it will work. Changing the ID in the editor changes every vehicle, not a global ID. Download my map and you'll see how it can be done
  3. vote kickplayer would be nice. Only last night there was this Lider guy who was hovering a Police car like a helicopter.
  4. Pah. Tremble in the presence of my superior failure. 17 races without a ranking! Wish the league had been last night, I really had my shinola together
  5. Had another real easy to implement idea. A new meta tag called . If the tag exists, the text in it is shown to the players before the race. This allows you to give instructions for maps that are a little different. For example, I have a map called The Presidents Lap Dance where I've had to create huge messages out of hay bails to tell the tanks to protect the limos and the helicopters to kill the limo.
  6. It's up to you. I've used Detour and roadworks sandwich boards, and also crash barriers with the red and white arrows.
  7. Other Points On Map Design 1 Make checkpoints as big as the road and pavement width. A small checkpoint close to the start causes everyone to dive into the middle and it becomes pure luck as to whether a player is in a good or bad position. You don't have to set each one if you clone for the next one (Shift+F9). Towards the end of the race smaller checkpoints are less of a risk, but always assume that there will be 32 players starting, and a close battle for the end. 2 If your race is going along the edge of a cliff, try to place markers to help anyone who falls off back to the route. 3 When placing checkpoints in the editor, look back to make sure you can see the last one illuminated. This helps to make sure you can always see the next checkpoint in race and don't need to consult to map. 4 Think about using Hoop checkpoints more even in road races. They allow you to see vehicles, turns, obstacles, etc that are ahead a lot better. Something I'm going to be changing and doing in future
  8. Checkout my 0! LOL I was mainly map-observing, but I can't believe that teleporting Knox came third once. He was so obtrusive to a race
  9. I think a Respawnpoint that looks like a checkpoint and creates an area to respwn in is needed. If it just uses checkpoints it's going to be really annoying when you are driving through one and a car spawns right in the way! I understand it needs to work with old maps without editting the maps, but how about the startline as default? P.S. Great news on the work
  10. All SARL races must have NO repair pick-ups. If you need a repair to complete it on your own it's almost certainly too hard, so you need to make it easier on the vehicles

    a MTA lan?

That would be a WAN then
  12. I don't think that will affect the speed of the vehicle. A vehicles weight and speed are independant of each other, so you'd need to adjust it's speed. Starting to sound messy now
  13. Great server. Very useful for testing with other players too
  14. I'll do some for this. What areas are you lacking contributions in? Actually, I have one already that might be good for the Chaos lists. It's not too crazy, just a few vehicle changes and one jump.
  15. I'm not sure about the blue arrow, but if you go through the list and press return on each, it will give you a yellow arrow, and will show the location on the radar. So do that until it's close, then look above the object you want to remove to see if you have the arrow
  16. LOL Guilty of that same rant myself, but they had it coming to em!
  17. Unless it's jokes between players who know each other, or a tiff over a genuine incident, I think it's spineless and childish. Any 12 year old can mouth off to a server load of people safe from behind their screen, so what have you achieved? I stick with servers that have little/none of that crap because it spoils things in my eyes
  18. Fantastic. Keep on trucking you work horses!
  19. What I could see happening is a number of people driving off for a race, and others sitting around shooting each other, but at least the true racers dictate when the race finishes. If everyone did camp out fighting on the finish line, I for one would just go for the win. Ya nooze, ya loose. Wait for a DD map for that kind of play. So yeah, there would be idiots and duff maps, but that's the way it is now. I think that when used properly it could make some races a lot more interesting. And after all, it's only a suggestion
  20. True, but if that work is being done, why not do it on-top of the race mod so it can be used and live tested sooner. Incremental work is easier to manage than a big release

  22. I'm sure it has to be being worked on for the DM mod, so how about putting it into the Race mod first? You could have races where half the players start as drivers, and half are armed passengers and you work together to kill the other cars. Could be used in races as well as destruction derbys. Would help reduce crowded starts too!

  24. I had an incident on Destruction Derby where I was one of the last 2 players alive. I shoved the other guy into a barrel, the barrel exploded next to him, and I caught fire. Strange bit was that he didn't explode and he won the game This is the type of incident that asks for it to be resolved, but with high pings it may be an inherrant problem
